INTELLIGENT POWERTECHNOLOGY ®Today’s military is facing an energy crisisunlike any before. From unstable oil pricesto the high risk of transporting fuel andto a lack of rapidly deployable equipmenton the battlefield, soldiers are faced withmany daunting challenges.Soldiers cannot effectively carry out theirmission without some form of tacticalelectrical power. Electricity is required topower everything from basic maintenancetools to sophisticated computer and informationequipment, in a variety of situationsand under all kinds of environmentalconditions. The U.S. Military is actively seeking solutionsto address this critical mission requirementand DRASH can deliver.5 www.drash.comThe ProblemTraditionally, soldiers have relied on analog-basedgenerators to power mobilefacilities while deployed in the theater ofoperations. Using this conventional approachhas proven problematic becausethese generators are only capable of providingtheir rated amount of electric power.Quite often, this means they must runat peak levels making them more susceptibleto burn outs, are prone to overload, and will shutdown when their rated outputis exceeded. Not only are analog-based generatorsprone to shutdowns, but operating at peakloads around the clock makes them burnexorbitant amounts of fuel, which is ineffective, costly and puts more soldiers inharm’s way. Transporting fuel is complicatedand dangerous. Fuel saved translatesto more potential lives saved, asless convoys are needed to transfer it toremote operating bases. These challenges call for a solution ofthe future but with DRASH that solutionis now.A Total System SolutionEnter DRASH Intelligent Power Technology® (IPT) – trailers that can easily be reconfiguredfrom one location to the nextwith a state-of-the-art digital smart systemthat forms the ultimate networked powermicrogrid on the battlefield.Once activated, DRASH Intelligent PowerTechnology ® (IPT) controls each generatorin the microgrid to turn “on” and “off”based on real-time power demands andcan be remotely monitored from insideyour DRASH shelter system.DRASH IPT offers significant fuel savings, reduces wear and tear and workseverywhere the soldier is expected to go.Support You Can TrustDRASH Intelligent Power Technology ®(IPT) is supported by rigorous testing, training, and 24 hour technical support.Use and DeploymentAlthough relatively new, DRASH IntelligentPower Technology ® (IPT) is makingits way into the field and can be foundsupporting programs such as TerminalHigh Altitude Air Defense (THAAD), HarbormasterCommand and Control Center(HCCC), Patriot, Battery Command Post(BCP), PM AUS Mobile Tower Systems,(MOTS), and Long Endurance Multi IntelligenceVehicle (LEMV).To learn more DRASH Intelligent PowerTechnology ® (IPT) continue to the nextpage.

INTELLIGENT POWER TECHNOLOGY ® (IPT)automatically self-adjust without interruption aspower demand changes.DRASH Intelligent Power Technology ® (IPT) enablesgenerators to operate together and withgreater efficiency greatly reducing fuel consumption, overhead and can be easily transported fromone location to the next.DRASH Intelligent Power Technology ® (IPT) isdelivered field ready to the soldier in a rapidly deployablepackage. By combining DRASH IntelligentPower Technology ® (IPT) with the proven reliabilityof DRASH Utility Support Trailers (UST),soldiers have a highly mobile and battlefieldproven platform that can easily be reconfiguredfrom one location to the next to meet all powergeneration needs.Designed to operate in the toughest terrain andeasily towed behind common military vehicles, these trailers conform to established “safe totransport” criteria by the Military Transport ManagementCommand (MTMC) as suitable for “secondaryand unimproved roads” and sealift transportability. Many trailers are also certified for airtransport aboard select military aircraft.7 www.drash.comThey have been tested at the Aberdeen TestCenter (ATC) in Maryland and the Nevada AutomaticTesting Center (NATC) to meet all U.S.Military standards for trailers.DRASH Intelligent Power Technology ® providessoldiers with the capabilities they need to prioritizeand control multiple generators operating inparallel supplying only the power that is neededto meet a facility’s immediate operational requirements.Outfitted with a simple and user-friendlytouch screen with robust functionality, soldierscan easily control operations from their fingertips.IPT is designed for plug-and-play. Utilizing thelatest in connectorized cabling, it instantly recognizesadditional inputs and is smart enough toThis technology also features real-time systemperformance and diagnostics tools enabling usersto monitor fuel levels, engine temperature, oilpressure, run speeds and many other essentialparameters. Many of these parameters can easilybe monitored remotely from inside your DRASHShelter System using an IPT Remote Monitor(See page 80 for more information). With the ability to remotely monitor, DRASH IntelligentPower Technology ® aids soldiers in makingsure that vital systems are running in the mostefficient manner, and at optimum output levelsall while maximizing fuel efficiency. IPT saves onmaintenance costs and even extends the workinglife of the system itself.DRASH Intelligent Power Technology ® employsstate-of-the-art safety mechanisms that also helpextend the life of the system. For instance, thetechnology prevents the engine from starting untilthe required parameters and engine settings aremet. This is essential because now their is muchless risk of seriously damaging an engine, if forexample, it’s oil or fuel is too low.DOD BULK FUEL SUPPLY CHAINTransporting fuel is complicated and dangerous. Fuel saved translates to more potential livessaved, as less convoys are needed to transfer it to remote operating bases.Source: Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics. “Report of the Defense Science Board Task Force on DoD Energy Strategy ‘More Fight - Less Fuel.’” February 2008.

SHELTER DESIGNThe DRASH design is comprised of a frame withtwo pre-attached covers and integrated flooring. This means that setting up a DRASH shelter doesnot require special tools or dealing with looseparts. Additionally, its easy-to-use strut and hubconfiguration allows it to be set up within minutesof arriving at location. In this design, pairs of struts are made from anadvanced composite material called Titanite ® .Titanite ® has 270 percent more flex strength thanaluminum for the same diameter and cross sectionalarea. This means that it will bend but notbreak under pressure. The struts connect to theframework at points called hubs. These hubs allowthe shelter to be pushed up and out with nolocking devices for quick set up or take down. Adouble layer of high-tech fabric called XYTEX500 provides natural insulation that keeps outthe winter cold and summer heat in addition toproviding protection against microbes. The specially-coatedfabric is fire retardant, mildew resistantand water repellent, and is resistant to abrasionand ultraviolet rays.DRASH C, S, XB, M and J Series Shelters arecategorized according to width, length and design— with the C being the smallest at 109 squarefeet and the J being the largest at 1,250 squarefeet. Shelters can be interconnected to increaseor decrease an overall structure’s footprint. In addition to the 64 standard DRASH sheltermodels, a line of specialty shelters has been createdthat includes an Arctic Tent, Satellite AntennaShelter, Self Enclosed Annex Lobby and EMIShelter.
