Dùghall or Dougall was the sixth Chief of ClanRanald; he was assassinated in 1520 in Lochailortby a man who has been given various names: Aileannan Corc, Ailean a’ Choirce or Aonghas nan Corc.Dougall was chased up Loch Ailort, and got out ofthe boat down at the shore at Polnish and took tothe hill above to An Camas Driseach. Up by whereAllt Dhùghaill runs down through Coire Dhùghaillhe was caught and killed. In one version 5 the killingwas done with an arrow and it was not Aonghas nanCorc that did the deed, but he ordered one of hismen to do it. In another version 6 he was also shotwith an arrow, but Ailean nan Corc finished him offwith his dirk.The gamekeeper’s house was up above thebay on Loch Nan Uamh and was called Bàgh a’Gheamair. When the railway was built through thearea in the 1900s, the track was put right throughthe walls of the house.
