Guests of honour wereHigh Chief Ranger Michael Grealyand his wife Shirley.Stanley hands over the reinsIt was a proud moment for Devon and CornwallArea Chairman, Stanley Reynolds, when heinstalled his daughter as his successor at thearea’s annual meeting at Liskeard. MargaretWilliams will now lead the Devon and Cornwallarea. Both Margaret and Stanley are membersof Court ‘One and All’ in Truro.Margaret and StanleyTrip to Helston MuseumMembers of Court ‘Pendennis’recently visited Helston Museum.Often described as a hiddenjewel, it provides a fascinatinginsight into Cornish culture andindustry during the 19th and 20thcenturies. The deceptively narrowentrance to <strong>this</strong> listed buildingprovides a gateway to five displayhalls hosting a rich collection ofexhibits reflecting local history –including some of the <strong>Foresters</strong>.Afterwards everyone enjoyed afish and chip lunch.Thanks to AlexAfter 10 yearsin the role,Alex Battershillretired asSecretaryof Court‘Goodwill’ atthe branch’sAGM. Alexcongratulatedhis successor, GaryAlex hands over thehole punch to Gary!Webber, and handed over the tool of office– a hole punch! He said he believed thebranch would continue to be in safe handsand that with Gary, the finances, businessand social sides would flourish.Let’s face the music…Court ‘Pride of the Plym’ held a dance inAugust in aid of the MS <strong>Society</strong>. The guests for theevening were two MS sufferers, Margaret and Teresa,who are also fundraisers for the charity’s Plymouthbranch.Some 60 people attended, of which three quarterswere non-members. This was very pleasing, as theevent was also used to publicise and highlight thebranch’s activities and the <strong>Society</strong>’s products, in anattempt to obtain new members.Entertainment was provided by Justin Daish, a 22-year-old highlyaccomplished performer from The Shadows tribute band The Shadowers,in Yeovil. It’s been said by Guitar & Bass magazine that he not onlysounds like Hank Marvin, but could almost be him on stage. Justin playedfor nearly three hours and made the evening a very memorable one.Everyone went home in a very happy mood, having raised nearly £100.Margaret, Teresa andJustin, aka Hank Marvin!wales & the bordersA sunny cruiseOn probably the hottest day of the year, memberswent on the Dragonfly Cruise on Brecon Beacon.The leisurely pace suited the weather and membersenjoyed the beautiful scenery and each others’company.
