FROM THE DESK OF RICK W. MERRILL, PRESIDENT AND CEOA message to our donorsExcitement continues to build at Cook Children’s as we unveil our new north tower. Among other important features, welook forward to showcasing our state-of-the-art Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) because at Cook Children’s we realizethe importance of caring for the patient and the family, too. That’s why our new all-private NICU was designed so thatparents can stay by their baby’s side around-the-clock. Throughout, we’ve taken great care to add amenities to provide a“home away from home” for our families while continuing to provide the outstanding care they’ve come to expect from us.The design of our expanded facility was inspired by our patients and families. So it’s only fitting that our patients played apart in creating the artwork that will adorn the walls and serve as a brilliant reminder of our promise to improve the healthof every child. As our patients and families begin occupying our new north tower, we are confident that they will find anenvironment that is both inviting and comforting.That’s why we’ve infused bright colors into the designof our new Family Plaza which is home to an expandedfood court and Pirate Cove, our new indoor playground.At the same time, we’ve also recently introducedon-demand room service. All of these elementswere created to further meet the unique needs of ourpatients and further enhance their experience while atCook Children’s.We hope that you will come to visit us soon becauseour expanded home was made possible because ofyour generous support and your shared commitmentto our children.Sincerely,Rick W.
