DAWLEY, JR.MEMORIAL AID FUNDCreated through a bequest from Mr. and Mrs.James Dawley in honor of their son, Lt. James H.Dawley, Jr. ’40, an alumnus of <strong>Pebble</strong> <strong>Hill</strong> who waskilled while serving with the naval air <strong>for</strong>ces. Ascholarship to <strong>Manlius</strong> <strong>Pebble</strong> <strong>Hill</strong> in honor of thisgift has been presented annually since 1998 to anUpper <strong>School</strong> student who excels in all areas of<strong>School</strong> life.Total bequest: $695,723THE DAVID EDWARDSSCHOLARSHIP FUNDCreated in the spring of 1977 to honor DavidEdwards, <strong>for</strong>mer head of the English Departmentat The <strong>Manlius</strong> <strong>School</strong>, on the occasion of his retirement.Mr. Edwards passed away in December of1990 and, in December of 1995, Mrs. Edwardspassed away. In both their memories, an awardis given each year to an Upper <strong>School</strong> studentwho excels in his or her study of English.Accumulated capital: $13,395THE FACULTY DEVELOPMENT FUNDInitiated in 1983 with a gift from the Edward E. FordFoundation to provide lasting funds <strong>for</strong> the continuededucation and professional development of facultyand staff. Friends of the <strong>School</strong> matched the originalgrant. The Edward E. As part of this scholarshipcampaign, The <strong>Manlius</strong> <strong>School</strong> flagpole was movedto the <strong>Manlius</strong> <strong>Pebble</strong> <strong>Hill</strong> campus in 1999. Eachyear, a child of an alumnus/ae is presented withthe Flag Scholarship.Accumulated capital: $46,525THE GLYNIS GEORGE FUNDInitiated in October of 1980 in memory of youngGlynis George Kelly, a <strong>for</strong>mer student at <strong>Manlius</strong><strong>Pebble</strong> <strong>Hill</strong> who was tragically killed in a motorcycleaccident. In honor of this Fund, an award is giveneach year to an Upper <strong>School</strong> student who showsparticular aptitude <strong>for</strong> creative writing.Accumulated capital: $1,593THE GOODYEAR-BURLINGAMESCHOLARSHIP FUNDEstablished in May of 2001 in honor of TheGoodyear-Burlingame <strong>School</strong>, a local private schoolwhich closed in 1956.
