From the 13th century, handwritten books were<br />

already used <strong>in</strong> Riga, and from 1470 onward,<br />

pr<strong>in</strong>ted books were imported<br />

Gustav II Adolph privilege to Nicolas Mollyn<br />

(1555(?)-1625) for pr<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> Riga and Livland was<br />

issued <strong>in</strong> 1621<br />

In the 37 years that Nicolas Mollyn lived and worked<br />

<strong>in</strong> Riga, he pr<strong>in</strong>ted 179 books there


Over 400 years of pr<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>g - cont<strong>in</strong>uous<br />

story of tradition, quality and <strong>in</strong>novation<br />

First publication of the Bible <strong>in</strong> <strong>Latvia</strong>n –<br />

Glück bible (1684), <strong>in</strong> 1500 copies<br />
