Clipsal Integrated SystemsOverviewClipsal ® Australia first started from humble beginnings in1920, with a range of adjustable conduit fittings that ‘clipsall’ sizes of conduit, thus the name Clipsal ® was born. Morethan 85 years on, Clipsal ® has become one of the leadingproducers of electrical products in its field.As a company and brand, Clipsal ® has continuouslydeveloped and evolved to meet the needs of commercialand domestic requirements. Development in automationproducts led to the formation of CIS (Clipsal ® IntegratedSystems) in 2000, a business unit of Clipsal ® Australiaspecialising in the manufacture of electronic lightingand building automation products. Since then CIS hasgrown rapidly, gaining widespread acceptance in majorcommercial and domestic markets. Today CIS employsmore than 250 personnel.Through extensive research and design, CIS developedthe C-Bus ® Energy Management and Control Systemback in 1994, and since then C-Bus ® has become the‘benchmark’ of CIS’ product range. Initially, C-Bus ® wasdesigned and manufactured for commercial application,however, due to increasing worldwide interest, C-Bus ® hasbeen adapted to suit the domestic market with the releaseof C-Bus ® DIN Rail Series and other associated products.With the development of C-Bus ® for domestic application, anew generation of products was born including the SceneMaster ® scene controller, C-Touch colour touch screens,Neo ® C-Bus ® wall switches, and Saturn C-Bus ® wallswitches.CIS continue to set new precedents by expanding theC-Bus ® Range.Introducing products such as C-Bus ®Wireless Technology, Dynamic Labelling Technology,Reflection Series, Saturn Series and Multi-RoomAudio. Not only is the C-Bus ® product range extensive,but it also complies with ISO9001 Accreditation.Initially, as C-Bus ® developed, there was an ongoingconcern in relation to ensuring the end-user would get themost out of every CIS product. So to avoid this problem,CIS began running the CIS Installer Program and InstallerApproval. If a contractor is interested in C-Bus ® installationthey can contact their local Clipsal ® representative whowill arrange for them to attend an introductory course onC-Bus ® . To become an Approved Installer, the contractormust prove themselves in the field. A minimum of threeinstallations must be completed on the same CIS product,and two of the jobs are inspected by CIS. Once the installerhas satisfied the requirements of CIS they are issued witha CIS Approved Installer Card.In conclusion, CIS are continually striving to meet thedemands and requirements of their customers by offeringthe highest quality energy control and managementproducts available on the market. CIS believe that byachieving this they will remain an innovative force behindthe manufacturing of automated electronics.When the C-Bus ® Neo ® range was first launched in 2002,it immediately became the ‘new face’ of Clipsal’s ® C-Bus ®offering. Neo’s ® superb design was one of inspiration, asClipsal ® consulted architects and designers for their input,to create a switch that complimented the beautiful homeenvironment. The Saturn Range of switches is also areal ‘head turner’. Manufactured from handcrafted glasswith bevelled edges, and apertures cut for its distinctivecircular, backlit switches.The year the Neo ® Range was launched it won theAustralian Electrical and Electronic Manufacturer’sAssociation (AEEMA) Award for Excellence inCommercialising Research & Development. In the sameyear, C-Bus ® took on the best of European technology towin the 2002 UK Electrical Product Award in the categoryof Contribution Towards Energy Saving.This was a significant achievement against otherestablished brands.
