As India’s officespace moves towards a modern working • Expandability and reliabilityenvironment, a clean, green, eco-friendly• Ease-of-use and maintenanceenvironment is essential.• Single console control of the wholeTechnopolis IT Park, Kolkata, is India’ssystemfirst such Green Information Technologybuilding. It is a 14-story office buildingcreating 425,000 sq. ft. of workspace, complete with a Business Center andConference Facilities. This project ensures high occupant comfort and energy savingsby integrating and monitoring HVAC, energy meters, water management, verticaltransport and fire systems.Technopolis boasts of a flexible and reliable Building Management System. TAC waschosen as the solution provider for this project because of its expertise in deliveringcreative solutions that use the latest open system networking technology.Green buildings are the future. They reduce the operating costs by up to 30%,provide the highest quality of indoor air and ensure optimal health and safety for theemployees; this leads to high levels of productivity for our new cutting edge industries.THE CHALLENGETechnopolis was conceptualized as India’s first Green IT building. The project was builtto adhere to strict pre-requisites for US Green Building Council’s Leed Certification, such as:• Healthy IAQ• 30% reduction in energy consumption• Water & waste water management systems

Technopolis IT ParkThe intelligent integrated project hadthree main building managementdemands:1. Technopolis was to be designed tomeet the LEED Certification andthus required improved energyoptimization and control.2. It needed an intelligent networkthat could enable temperaturecontrol at individual workplacesand in multiple offices.3. The system had to be user-friendly,inexpensive to operate andupgrade, and flexible to handlenumerous office reorganizationswithout operational shutdowns. Inaddition, the promoters wanted asystem that would provide off-sitemonitoring capability for betterbuilding management.THE SOLUTIONLeveraging and consolidating itsvast experience of designing andintegrating building managementsystems across the globe, the TACteam installed the TAC Vista opensystem using Lon Wor k s ® technology. As an industrial standard for networkcommunications, Lon Wor k s providesfuture-proof system architectureenabling Heating, Ventilating and AirConditioning subsystems solutions. These are managed by programmingenergy optimizing intelligent algorithmsinto TAC Xenta freely programmablecontrollers. A broad array of systemsare monitored, managed and controlledby this system, including water, HVAC,fire detection and elevators.Dynamic real-time data from everysubsystem throughout the buildingis collected and centralized, allowingauthorized personnel to respondimmediately to faults or emergencyalarms. The TAC Vista Workstationpresents the information in a user-friendlyformat allowing fast and simple analysisand an ability to change subsystemparameters with just a few keystrokes. The Xenta 511 is used as a Web Serverto monitor this live data over the web foroff-site monitoring.THE bottoM lineThe TAC system provides energyoptimization and control, imparts flexibilityfor future expansion, integrates equipmentsuch as energy meters and fire alarmpanels from third-party vendors, addressesthe changing needs of occupants andtenants, and most importantly meets thestringent product and execution norms forLEED certification.BUILDING PROFILEAs the leader in Open IntegratedSystems for Building IT, TAC providessolutions that ensure reliable buildingsystem control and operationalefficiency. This allows facility ownersand operators to concentrate on theirtop priority — providing the highestvalue to their clients and users.Copyright © 2006-2008, TACAll brand names, trademarks and registered trademarks arethe property of their respective owners.
