Both of these rankings areNOT approved or endorsed by the GAEC. The GBC runs the boxing rankings and Georgia Fighters runs the MMA rankings. Georgia Fighters apologizesif the previous statement in the magazine caused any confusion.
THREE HUGE FIGHTNIGHTS TO CLOSE OUT 2011!This past year has been a huge year for boxing and MMA in Georgia.We’ve seen the crowning of eight Georgia Fighters Champions alongwith the first Georgia Boxing Champion. We’ve seen about 41 fightnights in the state which represents a gradual increase over 2010 with37 live events and 2009 with 33 live events, according to the GeorgiaAthletic Commission’s website.Not only have we seen a gradual increase in the quantity of fights,but the quality of fights has increased in regards to boxing, kickboxingand MMA. We’ve seen many of our Georgia fighters move throughthe amateur ranks up to the pro ranks and burst into nationallytelevised fights.After an amazing 41 fights in 10 months we head down the stretch ofthe year with three more big fight nights spread throughout the state inAthens, Duluth and downtown Atlanta.On Friday, Nov 11 in Athens, Fight Fusion returns to put on an all amateurcard the night before the Bulldogs home game versus Auburn.The last Fight Fusion event the night before a home Georgia game inAthens proved to be a huge hit with the fighters and the fans. The cardwill be headlined by a GFC title fight between #6 GFC ranked SamuelSamples and #7 Josh Morris.Following suit of doing big fight nights the night before a collegefootball game is The Big Rock Out to be held on Friday, Dec 2 at TheGeorgia World Congress Center in downtown Atlanta. The fights willtake place the night before the SEC Championship Game and this isthe second year in a row that Sports Fan Properties and Shea BaileyPromotions have done such. The card will feature two title fights withPaul Delgado and Tyrese Hendrix both fighting for WBF North Americantitles!The final fight of 2011 will take place at Wild Bills on Friday, Dec 16.The annual charity fight, in its third year, is a benefit for Toys For Tots.Anyone that shows up with a new unwrapped toy at the door gets intothe fights for free! The past two years have each raised about 3,500toys for charity with an expectation for more than 4,000 toys this year!With an amazing 2011, 2012 promises to be the biggest year yet forcombat sports in Georgia.
