<strong>Job</strong> <strong>description</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>person</strong> <strong>specification</strong><strong>Job</strong> Holder:<strong>Job</strong> Title:Division:Reports To:Key Relationships:<strong>Job</strong> Summary:TBACapital ActuaryRisk & Capital ManagementSenior Capital ActuaryMembers of Risk Management, Actuarial, Finance, <strong>and</strong> Underwriting teamsTo be responsible for the Group’s capital model.Key Responsibilities:• To prepare the Internal Model Capital Assessments• To use the internal model to answer business <strong>and</strong> risk management questions• To ensure that the capital model meets the Solvency II st<strong>and</strong>ards• Managing the processes to bring to together inputs for all model components• Ensure that the evidence/documents required by regulators is in place• Assisting with using the model to help inform business decisions• Assisting with the catastrophe, large claims <strong>and</strong> credit risk modelling• Setting up <strong>and</strong> monitoring model runs• Analysing output from the model for reasonableness• Preparing data for the Internal Model• Ensuring that the model documentation is up to date• Drafting reports to executive committees, Lloyds of London, FSAOther Responsibilities:• To develop underst<strong>and</strong>ing of the business that will assist producing analysis to use the internalmodel outputGeneral:• Adopt the <strong>Beazley</strong> culture of Professionalism, Integrity, Effectiveness <strong>and</strong> Dynamic attitude thatcontributes to an internal environment of teamwork <strong>and</strong> promotes a positive br<strong>and</strong> image to ourexternal customers.• Comply with <strong>Beazley</strong> procedures, policies <strong>and</strong> regulations relevant to your role. Undertakerelevant training on <strong>Beazley</strong> policies <strong>and</strong> procedures as delivered by your line manager, the TalentManagement development or assurance teams (compliance, risk, internal audit) either directly, viae-learning or the learning management system.• Comply with any specific responsibilities necessary for your role as outlined by your line manager,the Talent Management development or assurance teams (compliance, risk, internal audit) <strong>and</strong>ensure you keep up to date with developments in these areas. This may include, amongst others,<strong>Beazley</strong>’s underwriting control st<strong>and</strong>ards, <strong>Beazley</strong>’s claims control st<strong>and</strong>ards, other <strong>Beazley</strong>st<strong>and</strong>ards <strong>and</strong> customer relationship management.• Ensure that you uphold the <strong>Beazley</strong> principle of Treating Customers Fairly.• Carry out additional responsibilities as individually notified, either through your objectives orthrough the learning management system. These may include, among others, European StrategyTeam, US Management team or membership of any <strong>Beazley</strong> committees.


Personal Specification:Education <strong>and</strong> Qualifications• University degree, post-graduate preferred, in a quantitative or analytical discipline• Part qualified actuary or willing to undertake the actuarial examsSkills <strong>and</strong> Abilities• Strong modelling skills• Able to communicate effectively with internal staff <strong>and</strong> regulators, both verbally <strong>and</strong> in writing• Team worker as well as able to work on own initiative• General commercial <strong>and</strong> financial knowledge• The ability to manage time, meet deadlines <strong>and</strong> prioritise• Strong Programming skills with exposure to MS Excel 2007, MS Access 2007, <strong>and</strong> VBA• Underst<strong>and</strong>ing of statistical concepts <strong>and</strong> exposure to using statistical software with an ability tolearn new technologies quicklyKnowledge <strong>and</strong> Experience• Professional work experience; exposure to insurance industry advantageous• Data analysis <strong>and</strong> researchAptitude <strong>and</strong> Disposition• Outcome focussed, flexible <strong>and</strong> enthusiastic• Interested in helping <strong>and</strong> educating others• Professional approach• Keen to interact with various departments in the groupCompetencies• Using databases (familiarity with SQL)• Programming skills (VBA preferred)• Information seeking• Self starter• Willingness to learn• Analytical thinking• Problem solver• Team work• Initiative• Integrity• AccuracySigned: …………………………………………….……..
