Flewelling (Thoughts from a Road Trip, 2002)In the <strong>Meta</strong>-<strong>Project</strong>, you will take on a “bird’s eye view” <strong>of</strong> the st<strong>or</strong>y <strong>of</strong> your life. We will complete aseries <strong>of</strong> 10+ writings over the course <strong>of</strong> the next 3 weeks will ask you to reflect on where you are, whoyou are, what is your obstacle, and how you can overcome it. You will also have a chance to imaginepossible outcomes, and write your own ending to the st<strong>or</strong>y you are living.Timeline:January 17-February 3Deliverables:• 10 QuickWrites• 6 chapters <strong>of</strong> the st<strong>or</strong>y-Exposition: Where the st<strong>or</strong>y takes place-Character: Who I am-Objective: What I want-Obstacle: What is stopping me-Strategy: How I get past my obstacle-Conclusion: Ever afterProcess:We will use a lot <strong>of</strong> spono-writing techniques, initially, to get our ideas out there, and will we share ourwritings with each other in partners, small groups, and as a class.Grading:If you come to class every day, andIf you do all the writings and revisions, andIf you participate in reading your writings and discussing with the rest <strong>of</strong> us, andIf you write up your evaluations (without complaining too much)...you are guaranteed a B f<strong>or</strong> the project.If you come to class every day, andIf you do all the writings with a clear eff<strong>or</strong>t at experimenting and improving, andIf you participate in reading your writings and show real attention to the writing <strong>of</strong> others andIf you write up your evaluations with care...you are guaranteed an A f<strong>or</strong> the project.If you do all <strong>of</strong> the above, but with less eff<strong>or</strong>t <strong>or</strong> less reliability,you will receive a C, <strong>or</strong> a D, <strong>or</strong>... In your st<strong>or</strong>y, youshould recall a situation where you wanted to achieve something, but struggled to achieve it because <strong>of</strong>an obstacle.
