What is the most critical aspect that will affect the
performance of waterborne technology?
Air quality is the most critical aspect that effects the
performance of waterborne coatings.
Does AWX cover better than solvent borne?
The AWX Waterborne System holds more pigment than solvent
borne systems. Hiding is usually improved 25 – 33%.
Does AWX cost more?
Our experience proves to us, that AWX is a productive and
profitable alternative solution for collision centers to solvent
borne coatings. With the right equipment, mindset and training,
Waterborne can be every bit as (or even more) productive as
a solvent borne system.
Does the mixing of AWX have a complicated conversion step?
No – AWX is very easy to mix. Simply add the toners listing in
the colour formulation, then reduce with 10% AWX deionised
water or till 20% with Slow Reducer for warm temperatures.
Does AWX require special application equipment?
Minor modification will need to be made to provide optimum
performance. Since AWX performs similar to a solvent borne
system, it requires the lowest capital equipment cost of all
systems.
Is AWX difficult to apply?
Application of AWX is very simple; it provides better hiding,
cleaner formulations for colour match, and easy and consistent
blending properties.
Is AWX healthier for my employees?
While waterborne technology is better for the environment and
reduces VOC emissions, AWX still contains solvents, pigments
and resins. We recommend proper personal protection
. equipment be used for any coating application.
Will I have to maintain separate solvent streams with
waterborne technology?
Yes – It is necessary to maintain separate waste streams,
however AWX reduces hazardous waste generation.
