MOBILE MARKETING Cont.
Mobile Websites
Mobile Websites are the easiest, most
cost effective and quickest ways to get
your business online.
They are basically websites that use
code so they will adjust to any mobile
screen size to provide the best mobile
experience.
While traditional websites can be seen
on mobiles (right image) visitors will
have to scroll and zoom to try and get
access to your information.
Options
• Fully searchable through search
engines
• Easy to make and deploy
• Quick to update for specials etc.
• Multi platform so only one build
required because of their stretch
and fit ability
• Can contain interactive components
like tap to call, maps, contact forms
and more.
p4
Mobile Apps For Business
Mobile apps are best suited when you
have a large amount of interactive
content with a large customer base.
They are not multi platform so an
individual app has to be created for
each phone system and so can end up
quite expensive.
Unlike mobile websites they have to be
processed through the various
providers like Apple and so need to be
developed properly for acceptance.
Options
• Optimized for separate mobile
specific device
• Offline viewing
• Integration with the operating system
So the question comes down to:
Who is my customer?
How do does my customer use
mobile devices?
What do we want customers to do
as a result of this mobile effort?
many other video channels.
Graphics for mobile websites.
A couple of years ago when bandwidth
was low it was suggested a mobile
website page should not be any larger
than 27 kb however today with better
access this can be increased.
It is important to note however that
people will click away if it get to big so
better to add larger graphics in a
gallery etc.
Most people will access a mobile
website for three basic pieces of
information.
Contact, call and find a location so
The term “responsive design” has gathered a lot of well-deserved buzz among Web
interfaces for different devices and to serve them all from the same website, with no
need for a separate mobile domain.
QR Codes Big or Bust
What is a QR Code
A QR Code (stands for “Quick Response”) is a
smart mobile phone readable barcode that’s
been big in Japan forever, broke into Europe a
while back, and is now getting traction in USA
and Australia plus the rest of the world.
A QR Code can contain a wide range of
information and is being used by businesses
all over the world as a marketing tool.
It can be printed on nay material and will link
your offline material to online content.
This one links to a tourist site for Northern
NSW.
QR Codes can be created using any number of free online generators and for
poster sizes look for one that will create a vector file.
Tracking for better marketing
You can track QR Codes with a number of different systems like Google Analytics
or QR Code tracking services. It is usually a matter of just adding some code to
your Mobile Website to trigger the tracking which provides device, location and
more.
Sub Domain & Redirection
Once you have built your mobile website it can be loaded into a folder or sub
domain on your site. No need to buy a mobi domain. Google says the best sub
domain is to use m.yourdomain.com
When someone visits your desktop website you can add a small piece of code to
redirect them to your mobile website for a better experience.
One common method is to divide your website into two versions: desktop and
mobile. For desktop/laptop users, the site looks like your "normal" version. For
mobile and tablet users, they get a different version specifically for them.
The most widely used redirection is simply to detect the screen size.
The easiest way to auto-redirect your users is with a simple JavaScript code in the
header of your HTML. You can detect screen size or go with the “user agent”
approach.
Screen size is nice because if the user has a small screen of any kind, the code
redirects to the mobile version making it easier to navigate.

If you have a Wordpress or other CMS there are a myriad of plugins that do the
same thing. Remember Google is your friend for finding various redirection scripts.
This site gives a number of alternative options
1. Use a reputable local SMS delivery system
2. Use a double opt in for legal and security reasons
your legal responsibilities you can start your your SMS marketing campaign. I'd
suggest using a 3rd party service provider to ensure that you are able to track the
Mobile Applications Cont.
We have been keeping a close eye on the incredible growth in the use of mobile
devices, and also on how small businesses are adapting to this unprecedented trend.
For small businesses who are looking to get into mobile marketing, there are more
options than ever before.
Businesses are looking more and more at creating a stand-alone mobile presence to
reach new customers and engage with existing customers. In some cases, a mobile
website is the right choice, while in others it could mean developing a mobile app.
How do you decide what’s best for your business? A blog post on Mashable includes an
infographic from advertising agency MDG which offers some helpful advice and
insights.
The first and most important thing to bear in mind is that there is no single answer as
to which of the two options is better – and for some businesses, a combination of both
may be the best strategy. As the post outlines, it depends on your objectives and what
the customer interaction consists of: studies reveal that when “shopping, searching
and entertainment” are involved – in other words, when customers are looking to
make a purchase or gather information – they prefer a mobile website. On the other
hand, “they prefer mobile apps for managing data, navigation and connecting with
others”.
The blog post and infographic offer a helpful primer for anyone who is new to mobile
websites and mobile apps, as well as a handy run-down of key considerations when
choosing between the two.
As with any platform or tactic, the guiding principles to keep in mind with mobile are
to start with our objectives, plan how we’ll add value to the customer or prospect, and
test and measure the results to see what works best.
Mobile CMS
Developing larger mobile websites may require a Content management system and
this can be easily done with Wordpress and a special theme.
Once our customers realize the power of mobile websites a few pages is just not
enough so we needed to create a much more versatile system that would allow
multiple pages and subpages, posts and categories.
WordPress is a fantastic Content Management System that allows us to do all this
and more. We can add numerous plugins to extend the functionality of the mobile
website and create an interactive system for our visitors.
By using Artisteer we can also customize the
themes to match the original website and
create a seamless integration.
tourism site then Cabonne country is a great
example.
