JAMMU & KASHMIRPrant organized oath taking ceremony of thenewly elected Prant and branch office bearers forthe year 2012-13 on 08.04.2012, Prof. D.R. Kotwal,Sh. Vijay Sharma, Sh. Lek Raj Sharma took theoath of office as State President, State GeneralSecretary and Treasurer respectively. Dr. SantoshGupta administered the oath. Ex. State PresidentProf. S.C. Anand, State Secretary Sh. S.N. Sharmaand State Treasurer, Arun Sharma also graced thefunction. Sh. Vijay Sharma gave the financial report.State President administered the oath to all thePresidents of the branches, Sh. Vijay Sharma to allthe Secretaries and Sh. Lekh Raj to the TreasurersProf. D.R. Kotwal in his welcome address stressedupon the members for the expansion and increasein the membership for the year 2012-13. Sh. S.N.Sharma presented the vote of thanks.Swami Vivekanand, Gandhi Nagar : Branchcelebrated parivar milan and branch elections atSukrala Mata Temple, Billawer on 18.03.2012. About105 members of branch participated in the trip.Many members participated in the culturalprogramme and interacted with each other. The ladymembers of the branch conducted singingcompetition and bhajan etc. To activate the womenin the BVP the branch has constituted a womenexecutive group of 10 ladies. Their thought processwill definitely improve the functioning of the BVP.Gandhi Nagar : Branch organized a parivarmilan at Mansar on 1 st April. Near about 40 membersincluding men, women and children participated.Certain problems of the branch were taken up fordiscussion. Games were arranged to provideentertainment to the members. Everyone enjoyedthe get togher. Dr. Santosh Gupta, convenor of theYuva participation, Prof. S.C. Anand Chairman ofProudh Sanskar Shivir, President of the branchChampa Gupta, Secretary Bhopal Dutta andTreasurer, Prem Sharma also participated.MAHARASHTRA-INerul, Navi Mumbai : On the initiative ofHasumati Vaghani President of Mahila memberstook initiative to teach the basic needle work to thegirls in the age 12-18 of Vatsalya Trust Sampada.The hostel is meant for the needy girls from theage 5-18 years. About 49 girls are staying in thehostel. The basic needle work was taught to 30 girls9during their summer shivir on 25 th and 26 th April.Based on the feedback the program will continueon fortnightly basis. Mahilas who participated inthe program were Vaghani, Shashi Bansal and AlkaRawat.GUJARAT CENTRALPaldi, Amdavad : Published a small book onsweat memories of Development work of BVPnamely 'ame bhooiyaa nathi' on the occasion ofworkshop for Gujarat Zone at Prexa WishavaBharati, on 07-04-2012. Vimochan of this book wasdone by BVP National President Hon. Justice V.S.Kokje with other Gujarat Zonal Office Bearers &Prant Trustees. In this book are given the true storiesof various BVP progs. activities & permanentprojects and experiences shared by Paldi trustees& office bearers during implementation for the last15-20 years.GUJARAT NORTHPrant held a general meeting in the hall ofsanskar Bhavan Unjha on 04.03.2012. All branchPresident, Secretary & Treasurer, Mahila Sanyojika& all programme Sanyojak remained present.Meeting started with speech of Dr. Ajabhai JoshiPresident of Prant. National Secretary VinodhbhaiShah & Zonal Secretary Pankajbhai Shah remainedpresent as chief guest. Honourable chief guestVinodbhai Shah very nicely delivered his speech &explained basic fundamentals.Patan : Branch celebrated its 16 th annualfunction on 25.03.2012 in the Sankul of K.C. On the celebration of 150 anniversary ofthe Swami ji branch distributed the memento of wallclock with very nice photograph of Swami ji & logoof BVP Patan to all branch members & all invitedguests. Dist Collector, highly appreciated theactivity of BVP & promised to support all itsactivities at any time & anywhere. The annual reportand statement of account were presented bySecretary and Bharatbhai Thakkar announced thename of new karobari & all Office Bearers of thebranch & Prant.ASSAMJorhat : Branch celebrated the annual NationalPatriotic group song competition at the senior citizenforum's auditorium:The 1 st prize was won by thestudents of Maharshi Vidya Mandir, Koronga. Theshield along with the 1 st prize were donated byhonourable member of BVP Mr. & Mrs DilipBezbaruah in memory of their departed youngdaughter, Mridusmita who expired in an accidentwhile she just got down from the bus at Guwahati.WEST BENGALCalcutta Central : Branch organized andsponsored a six day workshop titled "studentexcellence programme" (step) at Shree JainSwetambar Terapanth Vidyalaya from 6 th to 11 thFebruary 2012. The programme was conducted bytrained members of Vivekananda KendraKanyakumari. The inaugural speech was given bySecretary Arvind Singh who gave brief introductionof this programme and emphasised to students thatthey should pay heed to every minute detail, sothat they derive maximum benefit from this yoga,memory power development, concentrationdevelopment and time management and how toprepare and write their exam. More than 40 studentsparticipated and school authorities were very helpfulin organising the programme in air conditioned halland in providing projector for this programme. ThePrincipal and other teaching faculty thanked theorganisers and were hopeful for further collaborationfor organising such programme in future.DELHI SOUTHA-Block, Janakpuri : Health : 2 camps forthe benefit of residents of adopted Sewa BastiPankha Road, Uttam Nagar were organized. 32 werethe beneficiaries. Viklang Sahayata : the branch iscontributing Rs. 500 per month to Disha Centre ofChander Nagar, a school of mentally retardedchildren. Sewa: old clothes but in fairly goodcondition were collected by K.L. Verma Convener,Sewa Project for distribution among the needy ofabove sewa basti. 20 families were the beneficiaries.Proudh Sanskar/ Sr. Citizens care : all our worthycolleagues whose birthday falls in March werefelicilated in our regularly monthly programme.Amongst them M.L. Khattar, a retired Postmasterand social activist of over 80 years (Sr. citizen)was specially honoured with shawls and garlands.His services to society were eulogized. This wasfollowed by a very informative talk by AcharyaDharmanand Joshi, a Sanskrit scholar and eminentJyotish Acharya on 'Kaal Ganna mein samvatsarkaa manthan'. He threw light on scientificmethodology and its calculations as well as itsenvironmental, religious and historical inspiringevents associated with samvatsar which falls onchaitra Partipada, Shukal Paksha. He made anappeal to all to celebrate Samvatsar as new Bhartiyayear with same zeal as is celebrated 1 st January.S.P.Bhatia proposed a vote of thanks.B-Block Janakpuri : The samuhik saral vivahof eleven eligible couples was organized in a veryimpressive manner, strictly as per BVP guidelineson 13.04.2012 the baisakhi day by spending morethen Rs. Two and half lakhs.
