Goddess Artemis has givenme an order for you to follow! You havebrought shame upon your namesbecause of your cowardly acts in thesacred forest of Artemis.You failed to kill the Magical Bull that haddesecrated the shrine of the goddess, soShe has decreed you must be taken tothe entrance of the Underground, thepalace of the Bull King, where you mustdefeat the dread Minotaur. Only byperforming this feat will you be pardonedby the mighty goddess of the hunt !”If the Centaurs are friendly, the heroesare carried deep into the forest, untilthey reach a clearing where there aremore Centaurs. The wounded heroesare treated with magical healing herbsand recover all their Hits. The Centaursbring food and water, and Aquio eatswith them, before they go to sleep.Next day, the heroes receive gifts fromthe Centaurs: bows and quivers with 12arrows for each character who doesn’talready have one, as well as rations forthree days and a waterskin for each.Aquio and his followers let the heroesride them and gallop towards the Tombof the Bull King. The heroes are leftnear the Main Southern Gate (section18 of the Tomb, see p 46), and Aquiogives them a last word of advice:“We will wait for you for an entire moon,as the goddess has ordered us. We willstay near this gate, and may theblessing of Artemis guide your hands tokill the Minotaur Lord ! He is a monsterof the Underground, and we have nolove of him, nor his minions.One word of advice: not every beingwho lurks in the shadows of the palaceis an ally of the Minotaur. Ancientpowers lived in the palace of the BullKing before the monster and his hordewere awakened, and although theyhave no love for your kind, two-legs,,they despise the Bull King as well.Perhaps there are those among themwho may prove to be allies. Now, gomeet your destiny with our blessings!”If the Centaurs are hostile to theheroes, they are forced to sleep outsidethe forest, and neither food nor water isgiven to them. If there is a Centaur inthe group of heroes, he is even morescorned. They are watched in the nightto be sure they don’t flee to the hills,and next day, Aquio and his followersguide the heroes near the Tomb of theBull King. They are left next to theTheatrical Area (Area 2, see p 36) andAquio speaks to them:“We will wait for you for three days, asthe goddess has ordered us. We’ll staynear this gate, to be sure you haveaccomplished your mission. If you do notreturn with the Horn of the Minotaur,you’ll not make it past our rain of arrows.Now, go to meet your doom !”Aquio, son of AgrioIf one or more heroes have been killed,the players can make new charactersthat live in the Forest of the Centaurs.The new heroes can only be Centaurs,as this is the only adventurer classavailable in the Forest of the Centaurs.20
