Recording/Videotaping Testimonies – Documenting testimonies at themeeting will be important. Recording them will enable you to go back andlisten carefully to each participant at the meeting. In order to recordtestimonies, each individual will need to consent to be taped. The individualswho consent to being taped should sign a form stating their consent. There willbe many people there who will want to discuss their opinions on the matters andthis is a perfect way to do so. Consider having a focus question upon which eachtestimony will be centered.Seeking Permission for Photographs and Video– As you take pictures or videos to post on theNAACP website, Facebook page, or on Twitter, orotherwise, it is essential that you have a permissionform that participants sign giving permission to usetheir image for these purposes. Consult with yourlegal redress team to get a template for gettingpermission. Also, your unit may have invitedjournalists, photographers, and reporters to themeeting. A point person will need to discuss with themedia ways to obtain and use photographs andvideo that is taken at the meeting.Social Media – Posting pictures to social media, or posting updates through Facebook andTwitter during the meeting is a great way to enable those who could not attend to stayconnected. As a unit, a Facebook and or Twitter page can be used to connect with constituentsand other branches. Posting pictures and/or updates should be done both on the unit’s page aswell as the NAACP’s Facebook and Twitter pages.NAACP Coal Blooded Action Toolkit33 | P a g e
