ADMISSION POLICIES ANDPROCEDURESIn keeping with the philosophy that the capabilities of eachindividual student should be developed, <strong>Wallace</strong> <strong>Community</strong><strong>College</strong> admits all students who have the capability to benefit frominstitutional programs and courses. This open-door policy grantsadmission to the following types of students: first-time college,ability-to-benefit, transfer, transient, those seeking readmission,audit, accelerated high school (early admission), dualenrollment/dual credit, and international. The Admissions andRecords Office is the department responsible for administering alladmissions policies and procedures for general admission to the<strong>College</strong>.ADMISSION REQUIREMENTSFor admission to <strong>Wallace</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong>, applicants mustprovide the following documentation:1. One primary form of documentation, such as an unexpiredAlabama driver license, an unexpired Alabama identificationcard, an unexpired United States passport, an unexpiredUnited States permanent resident card OR2. Two secondary forms of documentation, one that must be aphoto identification card other than those specified aboveAND one additional form of identification, such as aCertificate of Naturalization, a Social Security card, or acertified copy of a United States birth certificate.Applicants must submit the documentation identified above inperson or through a notarized copy by United States Mail by thedrop and add period for the applicable term. Applicants who failto satisfy the requirements identified above will not be admittedto <strong>Wallace</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong>.For admission to <strong>Wallace</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong>, internationalapplicants must provide the following documents:1. A visa acceptable to the United States.2. An official translated copy of the high school or collegetranscript (translations must be completed by an organizationaffiliated with The National Association of CredentialEvaluation Services; see www.naces.org for information).3. A minimum score on the Test of English as a ForeignLanguage (TOEFL) exam (500 on the paper-based test, or173 on the computer-based test, or 61 on the Internet-basedtest). Minimal TOEFL scores may be waived for studentsfrom the following countries: Antigua and Barbuda,Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, Canada(verify from transcript), Dominica, England, The Gambia,Grenada, Ireland, Jamaica, Malawi, New Zealand, Nigeria,Scotland, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, Tanzania, Trinidadand Tobago, the Virgin Islands, and Zambia.4. A signed, notarized statement verifying adequate financialsupport.5. Documentation demonstrating adequate health and lifeinsurance, including a repatriation benefit, which must bemaintained during all periods of enrollment.International applicants who fail to satisfy the requirementsidentified above will not be admitted to <strong>Wallace</strong> <strong>Community</strong><strong>College</strong>. Documents must be submitted by the applicable drop andadd period.For admission to <strong>Wallace</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong>, all malestudents between the ages of 18 and 26 must provide thefollowing information:• Proof of registration with the United States SelectiveService in accordance with Section 36-26-15.1 of the Codeof Alabama of 1974, as amended.TYPES OF ADMISSIONFIRST-TIME COLLEGE STUDENTSUNCONDITIONAL ADMISSIONApplicants who have not previously attended a duly accreditedpostsecondary institution are designated as first-time collegestudents or native students.For unconditional admission and to be classified as degree eligible,applicants must have on file at the <strong>College</strong> a completedApplication for Admission and at least one of the followingdocuments:1. An official transcript showing graduation with the AlabamaHigh School Diploma, as defined by the Alabama StateBoard of Education, the high school diploma of another stateequivalent to the Alabama High School Diploma, or anequivalent diploma issued by a non-public regionally and/orstate accredited high school.2. An official transcript showing graduation from high schoolwith a high school diploma equivalent to the Alabama HighSchool Diploma, as defined by the Alabama State Board ofEducation, issued by a non-public high school and proof ofpassage of the Alabama Public High School GraduationExamination.3. An official transcript showing graduation from high schoolwith a high school diploma equivalent to the Alabama HighSchool Diploma, as defined by the Alabama State Board ofEducation, issued by a non-public high school and evidenceof a minimum ACT ® score of 16 or a minimum SAT ® scoreof 790 on critical reading and math.1-800-543-2426 21 www.wallace.edu
