School WorkshopsEducational workshops inspired by the artworks at SAM have been specially developed to offerstudents a multidisciplinary and holistic contemporary art experience. These workshops range fromlearning specific art techniques, to speech and drama puppet shows, and writing clinics thatencourage originality and development of language skills and self-confidence.Weekdays, 10am or 2:30pm | SAMPreschool Workshops (4 – 6 years)$12 per personLittle <strong>Art</strong>ists by <strong>Art</strong> Loft (1.5 hours)This age-appropriate workshop allows childrento understand contemporary art in a fun way.After a tour of the galleries, there will be ahands-on activity where the pre-schoolers willcreate their own masterpieces using a range ofart materials.I Will Always Be Happy! by IQ Kidz(1.5 hours)Young children’s curiosity in art will be arousedthrough storytelling, and speech and dramaactivities in this workshop. After a tour of thegalleries, children will create puppets inspired bythe artworks and perform their own puppet show.Primary School Workshops(7 – 12 years)$18 per personSecondary School/TertiaryInstitutions Workshops(13 – 18 years)$28 per personYoung <strong>Art</strong>ists by <strong>Art</strong> Loft (2 hours)Students will reflect, interpret, and evaluatecontemporary artworks using the languageof art criticism. They will be guided to createartworks based on their interpretations of worksin the galleries that have impressed them.Inspired by <strong>Art</strong> by Monsters Under The Bed(2 hours)This fun writing workshop allows students toappreciate contemporary art while developingtheir language and narrative-writing skills.Following active discussion about the artworksin the galleries, students can choose to basetheir written piece on either the artists’ originalintentions or their own interpretations.Junior <strong>Art</strong>ists by <strong>Art</strong> Loft (2 hours)Students will be challenged to explore theconcepts in contemporary artworks. They will begiven the opportunity to discover their creativepotential through hands-on art-making, workingwith different materials.Never-ending Stories by IQ Kidz (1.5 hours)This workshop takes a speech and dramaapproach to art appreciation. Students will enjoyfacilitated discussions on selected artworksfollowed by exercises to create their ownalternative endings to art-inspired stories. Theywill also have the opportunity to perform theirpuppet show to their peers.The School Workshops are available for schoolbookings only.
