Blevins, dean emeritus of theCollege of Liberal Arts and professor emeritusof English, died August 6, 2007. Blevinsjoined USI in 1966 as assistant professorof English. He taught literature, film, andcomposition. He chaired the Division ofHumanities from 1969 until 1988 when thedivisions were organized into schools andwas appointed first dean of the School (nowCollege) of Liberal Arts. Blevins virtuallycreated the USI Theatre program from theground up. During his tenure, USI alsodeveloped the RopeWalk Writers Retreat,the Center for Communal Studies, Historic<strong>Southern</strong> <strong>Indiana</strong>, Historic New Harmony,and the New Harmony Gallery of ContemporaryArt.
