In MemoriamGina Zehngut Myers ’77, dental hygiene, ofTrabuco Canyon, California, died April 15,2005. Gina was a charter member ofthe Lambda Beta Chapter of Delta ZetaSorority at USI. Other campus activitiesinclude the Student Union Board, EagleGran Prix, and Feathershakers. She wasHomecoming maid of honor and receivedthe Outstanding Student Award. She wasthe owner of Creative Consulting of NewportBeach in Dove Canyon, California.Lori Carroll Bryant ’82, art, of Evansville,died August 29, 2007. She was involved atUSI as a cheerleader, member of Delta ZetaSorority, AMIGO, president of the StudentGovernment Association, student representativeto the Board of Trustees, and 1982Homecoming Queen. Bryant was managerof Community Partnerships at CAPEChildren’s Services in Evansville.Beth Ann Dippel (Gutzweiler) Fehn ’82,marketing, of Evansville, died September 3,2007. She was comptroller and office managerfor Head Over Heelz Salon.William A. Peters ’87, mining engineeringtechnology, of Burlington, Kentucky, diedOctober 19, 2007. He was an environmentalengineer.Beulah Ile Alcorn ’89, psychology, ofOlney, Illinois, died August 7, 2007. Shegraduated from Wabash Valley College in1981, continued her education at SouthernIllinois University, and graduated from USI.Wilma Veller Thompson ’90, early childhoodeducation, of Evansville, died July 21,2007. Blevins, dean emeritus of theCollege of Liberal Arts and professor emeritusof English, died August 6, 2007. Blevinsjoined USI in 1966 as assistant professorof English. He taught literature, film, andcomposition. He chaired the Division ofHumanities from 1969 until 1988 when thedivisions were organized into schools andwas appointed first dean of the School (nowCollege) of Liberal Arts. Blevins virtuallycreated the USI Theatre program from theground up. During his tenure, USI alsodeveloped the RopeWalk Writers Retreat,the Center for Communal Studies, HistoricSouthern Indiana, Historic New Harmony,and the New Harmony Gallery of ContemporaryArt.
