For the attention of the animal keeper.
You have received our product Arthro-
Mulgat® from your trusted veterinarian
following his/her expert advice. We
would like to thank you for the trust you
have placed in us and we would like to
support you with the following information
for the benefit of your valuable
animals.
Arthro-Mulgat® is a supplementary
dietetic feed for horses
 formulated with active components
and micronutrients
that meet the requirements for the
special nutritional purpose “convalescence”
according to the list of the stipulated
nutritional purposes defined in the
“Official Schedule for Dietary Feed“.
Degenerative functional disorders of the joints
These abrasion and wear-and-tear processes on the joints are in general referred to
as „arthrosis-symptoms“. It begins with the break-down of the cartilage in the joint.
The cartilage serves as a shock-absorber between the bones in the joint. Its function
is supported by the synovial fluid, which provides nutrients for the cartilage and surrounds
it rather like a ball bearing. In arthrosis cases it recedes resulting in the bones
rubbing painfully against each other. The irritated bone periosteum (outer surface
layer) reacts with an inflammation (arthritis) and deformity of the bones in the joint.
Thus the joint’s function is progressively and severely impaired. At an advanced
stage it can even develop into an ossification of the joint and to permanent stiffness.
Frequently, there are a number of joints affected.
The causes of arthritis can be a lack of exercise (especially in foals), too early or
excessive work demands, demanding exercise without a warm up period, injuries,
abnormal posture and inadequate nutrition.
How can arthrosis be recognized?
Signs for arthrosis are
 Unwillingness to exercise
 Lameness
 Stiff gait
Problems with lifting and presenting the hoof
The avoidance of particular movements (tight turns, changing into a gallop)
Pain symptoms (beating of the head, tense facial muscles, breathing
behaviour, groaning).
What has to be done?
Already first signs of a movement disorder should be the cause for the clarification of
the further procedure following the veterinary diagnosis. The use of antiphlogistics is
the matter of veterinary medicine
Arthro-Mulgat® was designed to support medicinal therapy and most of all
positively influence the essential convalescence-/regeneration processes.
Arthro-Mulgat®
Simply added to the feed
Amongst other treatments, injections belong to the classic standard therapy for joint
diseases. These carry a high risk of infection. Thus, it is essential to carry out an
urgent assessment for a targeted provision of nutrients that takes account of the
nutritional-physiological factors.
A variety of nutrients that specifically target the locomotive and the structural frame
will support the essential convalescence-/regeneration processes and will thus be
indispen-sible for a successful rehabilitation strategy.
Hyaluronic acid, as the principal component of synovial fluid (joint fluids), plays
an extremely important role of considerable significance within the joint cartilage
per se. It exhibits the tendency to remain on the joint cartilage via biochemical
interactions. It is responsible for the highly specialized properties of the joint
fluids, the so called thixotropic effect. Along with the main components, vitamin E,
selenium, manganese, copper, zinc and iodide are additionally included as essential
ingredients for the metabolic processes.
In addition the product is flavoured with “Harparom” containing Devil’s Claw as
bitter constituent. We will not further address the issue of the known effects of this
bitter constituent here as they are irrelevant for this product.
Arthro-Mulgat® has proven successful with horses of various ages. It should be given
over a four-week period and then repeated again at intervals of two to three months.
In growing horses to promote the development of bones and joints and to
prevent growth and development disorders.
In fully grown horses to avoid symptoms of wear and tear in the joints. This is
especially important when the animal has to achieve high performances during
sport or work.
In the case of existing symptoms of wear and tear in the joints, cartilage and
ligaments that include lameness, in order to support the essential
convalescence-/ regeneration processes within the framework of a successful
rehabilitation strategy.

and active ingredients into the
small intestine and their perfect
dispersal over the whole area of
the gut mucosa.
optimizes the provision of feeds and active nutrients to the joints that are indispensable
for the regeneration process in cases of defective joints;
 promotes the development of cartilage, bone and connective tissue cells;
is a naturally pure product that can also be fed over long periods of time without
side-effects;
is easy to dose and is readily consumed because of the Devil’s Claw „Harparom“
flavouring.

horses with existing joint problems it should be given over a period of 4 weeks. This
application should be repeated as appropriate at 2 to 3 monthly intervals.
Adult horses 30 ml daily/animal
Small horses 15 ml daily/animal
In order to avoid any oversupply for permanent feeding the actual need of selenium
and copper has to be determined and the dosage to be adapted accordingly.
Package size
