This initiative, which unites over 100 local networks, issupported by around 10,000 companies and organizations that share<strong>the</strong> 10 principles <strong>of</strong> responsible <strong>business</strong> in <strong>the</strong> areas <strong>of</strong> human rights,labor relations, <strong>the</strong> environment and anti-corruption.In <strong>the</strong> globalization and economic crisis era, corporate socialresponsibility becomes especially important. Global experienceconfirms that only companies that build <strong>the</strong>ir <strong>business</strong> on <strong>the</strong>principles <strong>of</strong> respect for human rights, transparency, environmentalfriendliness, care <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> staff and ethical conduct may achieve a longtermsuccess. Therefore, we believe that <strong>the</strong> priority task <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> UNGlobal Compact Network <strong>Russia</strong> is promoting <strong>the</strong> best practices <strong>of</strong>its participants and actively engaging <strong>the</strong> <strong>Russia</strong>n <strong>business</strong> in <strong>the</strong>initiative.Effort <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> UN Global Compact Local Networks brings toge<strong>the</strong>r<strong>the</strong> best international and national experience. <strong>Russia</strong>n companiesthat actively participate in <strong>the</strong> UN Global Compact and apply <strong>the</strong>most advanced international standards in <strong>the</strong>ir <strong>business</strong> clearlydemonstrate it. In this connection, it is encouraging to note that thiscode contains not only a description <strong>of</strong> various practices summarizedby topics in accordance with <strong>the</strong> Global Compact key areas, butalso presents unique ideas and innovative approaches applied byorganizations <strong>of</strong> various industries, geography, and scale and scope<strong>of</strong> <strong>business</strong>.We are sure that dissemination <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> best experience will stimulatefur<strong>the</strong>r growth <strong>of</strong> responsible <strong>business</strong> practices both nationally andinternationally.
