REFORMED PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH 25have made adjustments in our <strong>1972</strong> budget and hope tobalance our 1973 budget. We have made adjustments in salaries to tryto keep up-to-date with trends in the world money market.We are in the process <strong>of</strong> reviewing our system <strong>of</strong> examiningcandidates, and this may result in a new emphasis in our trainingprogram.Cycles in CyprusAt the beginning <strong>of</strong> the school year, the new Private School Lawcaused concern as to whether we should permit the schools to open.Word came at the last minute that the government would permit Bibleclasses without using Greek Orthodox teachers and chapel could berequired. Chapel has been conducted by reading scripture withoutcomment. The Department <strong>of</strong> Education indicated that Bible teachingwould be supervised, but no supervision has been given.We have asked for a study <strong>of</strong> Erastianism by the missionaries sinceit relates to our work in Cyprus. This deals not only with the passage <strong>of</strong>the Educational law, but also to working with young people. We are inthe process <strong>of</strong> studying the issues involved.Mr. Thomas Edgar returned to the Island the middle <strong>of</strong> JunefoUowing his furlough and resumed his work as principal <strong>of</strong> the LarnacaAcademy.Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Stegall returned home on August 1, 1971following the completion <strong>of</strong> their term <strong>of</strong> service.Rev. and Mrs. J. Paul WUson were asked to serve for another fiveyears and, in responding favorably, asked to retum home for a timeduring the summer. They arrived the last <strong>of</strong> June and stayed untU themiddle <strong>of</strong> August. They returned to Nicosia where they were to live andwork.Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Sanderson began their year <strong>of</strong> furlough andarrived home August 9, 1971 with plans to return July 10, <strong>1972</strong>. TheywUl locate in Nicosia.Miss Ruth Reade continues as principal <strong>of</strong> the Academy in Nicosia,and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Piper complete the group working in thecapital city.Rev. and Mrs. Thomas Hutcheson continue to live in Larnaca andMr. and Mrs. William Edgar complete the Lamaca mission group.Miss Patsy Boyle was travelling in the Middle East and visitedCyprus in late summer. She was asked to fUl a teaching position inLarnaca. The Board agreed, subject to her doing some reading and study<strong>of</strong> mission principles, since she had not taken the Training Program. Shebegan work in September 1971 as an employee <strong>of</strong> the Academy.Our missionaries receive many visitors in their homes. They findtheir homes a good place to witness and to hold Bible Studies.We praise God for the members which have been added to theChurch roU throughout the year. In each case they follow special study
