TIMOREINFOCompromise is not an optionRESPIRATORY MASKS, FILTERS AND AIRLINE RESPIRATORSUniSafe supply a range of different Air Purifying Respirators and a variety of Filters for special applications. Before using respirators and filters you must know that being protected by a filter does not isolate you from yoursurroundings. It is vital that you learn the condition of the atmosphere you’re working in, including knowledge of the oxygenconcentration. The oxygen concentration must be within the limits of local regulations. Other harmful gases or vapourconcentrations must be identified before you commence work. Your selection of an appropriate respirator and filter willdepend on the type of work you intend to carry out, as well as the condition of the atmosphere. Other factors may have to betaken into consideration when selectlng a respirator and filter system. TIMOREINFOEYE PROTECTIONHow to choose Eye Protection:It is extremely important to assess hazards at work before choosing eye or face protection. The Australian Standard AS/NZS1336 providesguidelines for the selection, care and use of eye protection products. UniSafe recommends that all eye protection products used in theworkplace should meet the requirements of the Australian Standard AS/NZS 1337. All staff should be trained on the correct use of safetyequipment.Typical hazards found in the workplace include:• Low Velocity particles - Use spectacles, goggles or face visors.• Splash - Use goggles or visors.• Medium Velocity particles - Use spectacles, goggles or face visors.• Gaseous - Use goggles.• High Velocity particles - Use full face visors and spectacles must be worn. • Non-lonising Radiation - Use goggles or visors.UV ProtectionAll UniSafe safety spectacles provide 99.9% UV protection (up to 385nm) and carry the AS/NZS 1337 StandardsMark certification formedium impact or low impact protection. The clear and amber lenses are marked as outdoor untinted (marked O) lens and can be used forindoors or outdoors when the wearer is not subjected to uncomfortable glare from the sun.Different functions require different shades of safety spectacles. For example, forklift drivers that are operating in loading bays may find thatusing a lighter tint with a reflective coating enables them to see clearly both indoors and outdoors.Spectacles approved to AS1067.1 (sunglasses standard) are not tested for impact requirement and are unsuitable for safety eye wear.Safety spectacles for use in the workplace should be approved to AS/NZS 1337.The AS/NZS1337 standard refers to the AS1067.1 standards and has the same testing requirements for sun glare and solar radiation.HEAD PROTECTIONImportant Information on Hard HatsBefore choosing a hard hat or bump cap, it is important to assess the hazards. Where there is a danger from a falling mass, safety helmetsshould be used. Use bump caps when there is a risk of bumps or scrapes occuring.UniSafe safety helmets are approved to AS/NZS1801. Bump caps do not have an Australian Standard.AS/NZS 1801 recommends that head harnesses be replaced every two years. As specified in AS/NZS 1801, safety helmets have arecommended life of up to 3 years from date of issue (not manufacture) depending on how they are used and treated. Weathering damage andshell discoloration are all signs that a safety helmet shouid be replaced. The use of solvents, marker pens, insect repellent and paint can alsoaffect the strength and effectiveness of a safety helmet. It is the responsibility of the wearer to check the safety helmet on a regular basis.High visibility ABS safety helmets were designed for use in low light areas such as forests or underground. In full sunlight, the life of these ABSfluorescent safety helmets may be reduced. We recommend that high visibility polycarbonate helmets are most suitable for outdoor usage in full sunlight. All staff should be trained on the correct use of safety equipment.EAR MUFF PASSIVE HEARING PROTECTION ATTENUATION INFORMATIONGeneral fitting and maintenance:• For maximum noise reduction ears should be completely enclosed in ear cups.• Cushions should be wiped clean at the end of each day.•Wash cushions and foam liners in warm soapy water at least once a week.• Cushions and cups should be checked for hardening and damage and replaced if necessary.RB300 Headband Earmuffs: Twin Stainless Steel Wire close fitting padded headband with slide height adjustment for comfortable fit.Attenuation in Decibels: Frequency Hz 125 250 500 1000 2000 4000 8000Mean Attenuation 7.8 13.1 22.3 32.4 30.1 35.7 34.7Standard Deviation 1.5 2.4 1.8 2.0 2.5 2.5 3.9Class 4 SLC 80 value 25Clamp Force 12.4NMass 218gRB301 Neckband Earmuffs: Twin Stainless Steel Wire close fitting neckband with overhead strap.Attenuation in Decibels: Frequency Hz 125 250 500 1000 2000 4000 8000Mean Attenuation 14.3 19.5 27.6 35.9 34.4 37.7 35.4Standard Deviation 4.5 3.3 3.1 3.9 3.7 4.3 6.5Class 5 SLC 80 value 29Clamp Force 14.0NMass 204g22
