They’re Here!
Well, at long last, summer is finally here! The Chamber
gets many questions this time of year from business
owners inquiring “when are the visitors coming?”
The long standing answer is about two weeks
after most schools in our target markets are out. This
means that the third week of June is when we start to
see more weekday business. Then of course the week
of the fourth of July comes and we generally forget
about when they are coming and just dig in and “git
‘er done”.
All of our businesses, the town, the chamber, the service
organizations, the TDA and visitors centers have
been working diligently for many months to “tee up”
the ball for the season. All the ads are printed, visitor
guides and maps distributed, the flowers are planted
and beautiful, the streets and sidewalks are repaired,
the pool is filled, and the parks look beautiful. The
shops are brimming with new merchandise, the windows
are decorated with merchandise enticing customers,
the restaurant menus have been tweaked and
tested, the hotels, inns and lodges are clean, painted,
and landscaped beautifully. The staff has been hired
and trained in customer service and the schedule is
complete.
This is the time we all must shine. We have had
plenty of time to prepare, so it is imperative that we
execute the plan. We all must work very hard to make
sure the “prettiest little town in North Carolina” is
also friendly, genuine, and warm. If we can do this,
they will come back year after year. Who know, they
may even decide to make Blowing Rock their home!
