Ceiling <strong>Swirl</strong> <strong>Diffusers</strong>Introduction<strong>Swirl</strong> <strong>Diffusers</strong> are designed to create arotary swirling motion to the supply airdischarge, which rapidly induces theroom air to quickly decrease the velocityand temperature difference of the supplyair.Within the AIR DIFFUSION range of swirldiffusers are fixed air pattern, adjustableair pattern and variable air pattern swirldiffusers. The fixed air pattern swirldiffusers have a horizontal discharge andare suitable for minimum mountingheights of 2.6 meters to a maximum of 4meters at a temperature difference of±10°K. Adjustable air pattern diffusers areused for the same mounting heights andtemperature differences but can beadjusted for horizontal or verticaldischarge. Whilst the variable air patternswirl diffusers have either a horizontal orvertical discharge and are suitable formounting heights up to 15 meters at atemperature difference of ± 10°K.In addition the variable air pattern swirldiffusers may be fitted with electricmotors for remote operation of the innervanes, which adjusts the air dischargefrom horizontal to vertical and vice versa.Alternatively, simple manually adjustedvanes are also available.The range consists of two styles of fixedair pattern swirl diffusers Models OD-4,OD-7 with two adjustable air patternModels OD-8 and OD-9 with each modeltype available with either a circular orsquare ceiling panel format. Consisting of anouter tube casing and innertube assembly in a circularformat. The outer casing isfitted with a set of fixedvanes, whilst the inner tube isadjustable with a centralregulating vane to vary theflow of air. With the innervanes in the fully openposition 30% of the total airvolume is passed into theinner section. By regulatingthe inner vanes, varying throwdischarges can be achievedfrom fully horizontal to verticalprojection, Fig 1, which isimportant in the heatingmode. Three types ofoperation are availablemanual, pneumatic or electric.It is suitable for use wherelarge temperature differentialsare required. Typicalapplications include sportshalls, exhibition halls andother open spaces.Position 1Inner tube is closed. For floorto ceiling heights of 4 to 6m.Intensive cooling.Position 2Inner tube is half open. Normalair conditioning.Position 3Inner tube is fully opened. Forfloor to ceiling heights of up to15m.
