Jindazhen is the porcelain capitalof the world. It’s in their blood. They have been in thetradition for 1500 years.”It is easy to imagine Weichman at work in China whenyou watch her at work on a project here in Houston. Sheworks the soft clay (good for large vessels, she says) on thewheel, rhythmically pushing and pulling, leaning, flexing, working water and sponge as the glistening clay wallsarise.“My graphic}arts degree is rooted inclay; my bloodline runs with earthand feldspar.”Marie loves working with the students at HBU andoffers these tips for aspiring artists: “exercise personaldiscipline, work hard all the time, stay in touch with yournetwork and connect with others!”Marie has an impressive line-up of exhibitionsscheduled for the next year from coast-to-coast.- LJRSelf Portrait in ReverseHBU 32 NEWS
