The plants include those fortreatment of municipal wastewater aswell as those for treatment of effluentfrom the pulp and paper industry. Theyare purposefully designed and constructedto maximize the efficiency ofthe plant, and optimize the qualityof the discharged water. The plants alsoreduce the margin for human error,minimizing the risk of environmentalaccidents.On one <strong>Skanska</strong> turnkey waste waterproject in Finland, it has been shownthat the nitrogen content can be reducedby more than 70 percent, therebyreducing the risk of eutrophicationin receiving waters, while consumingabout 50 percent less energy comparedto other solutions on the market.
