Faculty of Mechanical Engineering

Brno University of Technology is a prestigious university in the Czech Republic
and a well-known European technical university providing education in technical,
economic and art disciplines. As one of the elite technical and research universities

Studies at Brno University of Technology
Structured tertiary-level education in
full-time or combined mode of study
in the following levels:
n Bc. and Bc.A. Bachelor’s programmes
(3–4 years).
n Ing., Ing. arch. or MgA. Master’s
programmes (1.5–2 years).
n Ph.D. doctoral programmes (3–4 years).
The entrance procedures include a written
test focused on the applicant’s interest of
the particular field of study and the knowledge
in the relevant discipline. Some faculties
may accept students with excellent
secondary school results without entrance
examination.
The basic forms of teaching are lectures,
seminars, studio work, projects, classwork,
consultations, work placements, excursions
and individual work.
The academic year is divided into winter
and summer semesters, each generally
comprising 13 weeks of teaching and five
weeks examination period.
Within the framework of international
exchange programmes, students may
take some courses at partner universities
abroad. The University participates in
European educational programmes such as
Erasmus, CEEPUS and Leonardo da Vinci.
The faculties enable the study of disabled
students. Computer rooms are barrier free,
the study conditions are adapted to individual
needs of students, electronic textbooks
and other aids of a multimedia nature are
available at most of the faculties.
University offers various free of charge
counselling services oriented towards
student career counselling and cooperation
with companies, counselling in difficult
situations and distress related not only
to the studies.
