secondary school results without entrance
examination.
The basic forms of teaching are lectures,
seminars, studio work, projects, classwork,
consultations, work placements, excursions
and individual work.
The academic year is divided into winter
and summer semesters, each generally
comprising 13 weeks of teaching and five
weeks examination period.
Within the framework of international
exchange programmes, students may
take some courses at partner universities
abroad. The University participates in
European educational programmes such as
Erasmus, CEEPUS and Leonardo da Vinci.
Heat Transfer and Fluid
Flow Laboratory (Heatlab) offers
research and development applied
to mechanical engineering and
metallurgy.

The Heatlab has longtime experience in theoretical investigations as well as technical
services to industrial organizations in the area of heat transfer. The theoretical
investigation concerns with the inverse heat conduction problem and cooling using
mainly water and air-mist nozzles. The industrial projects are predominantly based
on experimental testing that leads to formulating mathematical models of processes
like cooling during continuous casting, cooling during hot rolling, descaling. The
heart of success is the ability to determine boundary conditions for heat conduction
equation.
The lab participates in several national and international projects which also offer
an opportunity for students to work on their degree projecs and theses in this way.
