Winter Weather DelaysCollection may be affected when weather packs a punch.Snow, ice and wind can affect solid waste collection. Snow and ice make otherwise‘flat’ roads and lanes difficult for the trucks to navigate safely, while hills can benearly impossible to service without the risk of property damage. Wind can also betreacherous, creating roadblocks or hazards involving overhead lines. At these times, the Town will error on the side of caution and temporarilypostpone collection service until conditions improve. In the event of inclement weather, here’s what to do:1. Throughout winter, please keep your sidewalkand driveway shovelled and ensure your containersare not hidden by snowbanks or other obstructions.2. For garbage or recycling service alerts, download Newmarket'smy-waste TM app (pg.4), visit www.newmarket.ca,or phone 905.895.5193.3. Please be patient. Servicing your homeis our priority – but the safety of peopleand property always come first.4. Do not place items on top of snowbanks.5. Put heavier things on top so items don't blow away.
