B<strong>in</strong>goIntroductionThis <strong>game</strong> is especially suited for beg<strong>in</strong>ners. It's a fun way to repeat numbers 1 through100. If you wish, you can even <strong>in</strong>clude the alphabet.Materials• 1 master grid for the <strong>game</strong> master (either the teacher or a student)• 100 co<strong>in</strong>-like gam<strong>in</strong>g pieces with numbers 1 through 100. (You can easily make themout of cardboard)• 1 grid for each studentPlay<strong>in</strong>g the Game1. Give every student a card conta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g a grid (students can easily make their own <strong>grids</strong>:five squares across, five squares down; 1 black square <strong>in</strong> the middle)2. Students fill the <strong>grids</strong> with "their own" numbers.1. column: numbers 1 through 202. column: numbers 21 through 403. column: numbers 41 through 604. column: numbers 61 through 805. column: numbers 81 through 1003. The <strong>game</strong> master (teacher or student) calls out the numbers picked from a bowl (goodfor practis<strong>in</strong>g LISTENING COMPREHENSION) <strong>and</strong> puts them on his master grid.4. Students who f<strong>in</strong>d the number on their grid, mark the square with this number.5. The student who has first marked all squares <strong>in</strong> a row, column or diagonal shouts"BINGO". The <strong>game</strong> master then checks whether the player's numbers are correct. Ifthey are correct, the student is the w<strong>in</strong>ner <strong>and</strong> becomes the <strong>game</strong> master for the nextround of the <strong>game</strong>.Includ<strong>in</strong>g the AlphabetAdd another row of squares on top of each grid <strong>and</strong> fill it with a five-letter word (here:BINGO). The <strong>game</strong> master places the l<strong>in</strong>e on top of the master grid <strong>and</strong>, for every numberpicked, also calls out the letter of the respective column (e.g. first column: B 15; fourth column:G 62). Instead of BINGO you can of course use any other five-letter word.
