pirAtE LAND pirAtE spLAsh BAttLE Pirate Land is home to Captain Roger and his band of wild pirates. They are always ready for a quick sword fight with gutsy children and are more than happy to sail you to their secret cave. The boat trip takes you past ship-wrecked pirates, dangerous crocodiles and sharks. In the pirate cave you will see exciting scenes from the life of the pirates, where they party and fight over stolen treasures – all built with hundreds of peaceful LEGO ® bricks. The Pirate carousel whisks you round in 9 large pirate barrels and in the Lighthouse you pull yourself up into the 11-meter high tower and meet the LEGO Lighthouse master. From there, you can enjoy a fantastic view over the entire Pirate Land and Pirate Lagoon, right next to Pirate Wave Breaker, where brave landlubbers are invited to join an adventurous pirate expedition. Pirate Land expanded in 2008 with a totally new dimension: Pirate Lagoon with outdoor water fun for the entire family. In Pirate Lagoon, families can go on expeditions in Pirate Splash Battle where they meet enjoyable challenges and engage in sea battles with passing pirate ships. Children can also romp to their heart’s content in Pirate Water Falls, an amazing water playground offering a wealth of exciting activities and interactive challenges for anyone of any age who loves water. FACts aboUt PiRatE lagoon • The Pirate Lagoon is 8000 m 2 in size. It is situated in Pirate Land, replacing Pirate Lake and Pirate Scene • Construction of the new attraction took seven months • The 47 large trees and 250 bushes formerly in the area was replanted elsewhere in the park • Building Pirate Lagoon required 2520 tons of concrete • Water in Pirate Lagoon is treated in the same manner as swimming pool water, and 468,000 litres of water are filtered per hour. There are five large sand filters, each of which is 2.5 metres tall and 1.4 metres in diameter • There are 2 kilometres of pipes under the Pirate Lagoon complex, which supply the area with purified water • A total of 119 LEGO ® pirate models ensure that Pirate Lagoon has just the right atmosphere • DDK 45 million have been invested in the new complex pirAtE spLAsh BAttLE In this thoroughly enjoyable family activity, parents and children sail on a challenging and fun-filled Pirate Voyage. There is room for eight brave pirates in each of the colourful Pirate Ships. When everyone is stationed at their own water cannon, the ship casts off and departs on an adventurous voyage among stern LEGO pirates and screaming parrots, past shipwrecks and the mysterious treasure island. It is important to be on the alert with the water cannon at all times, because there are challenges lurking everywhere. The cannons are operated by turning a handle, and well-aimed shots are rewarded! Striking a target with a jet of water will release surprising, amusing and – occasionally – wet rewards. It is necessary for the whole family to be on guard during the entire 5-minute voyage, as the Pirate Ship will be attacked when one least expects it. There are also other pirate ships at sea, and when they sail past there are fierce sea battles. From the shore, landlubbers attack the passing pirate ships with jets of water. FACts aboUt PiRatE SPlaSH battlE Pirate Boat • The total area of Pirate Splash Battle is 2005 m 2 • To reinforce the bottom of the lake, 23 iron reinforcement grids have been laid that measure 12 x 15 metres each and weigh a total of 26 tons • An additional 50 tons of iron have been used in the area, bringing the total amount of iron used in the complex to 76 tons • There are 19 dynamic water pumps in the canal to propel the pirate ships forward • There are 11 interactive water cannons mounted on land, ready to engage in water battles with the passing pirate ships • Eight pirate ships, each with room for eight persons, sail on voyages in the area • The ride lasts 5 minutes • The pirate ships encounter 16 interactive targets on their route Pirate Carousel Pirate Wave Breaker 4
pirAtE WAtEr FALLs Open from 30 april to 29 August, this attraction is an exciting and challenging playground paradise for all children who love water. If children wish to change to swimwear, there are newly-built changing rooms for their convenience. After changing they can play freely on the large, non-slip blue surface that covers the entire area. Pirate Water Falls is a refreshing oasis with foaming waterfalls and a wide variety of interactive play activities. Steps lead upwards to two impressively large LEGO ® Pirate Ships that are designed for children to explore. To descend to ground level again, the children can use one of the six slides. An eight-metre horizontal water slide is waiting in the play area. A running start ensures a high-speed trip along the wet slide standing up, on your tummy, or on your back. A refreshing and delightfully thrilling splash of water is also on hand. In the Pirate Water Falls area there are four pirate barrels brimming full with 50 or 100 litres of water. The barrels tip at regular intervals, splashing their contents onto the playing children. The fifth pirate barrel is the largest. It hangs on the Pirate Bridge and contains 1000 litres of water. Really brave kids can play under it and, when they are least prepared, the pirate barrel splashes its contents onto the expectantly waiting children. FACts aboUt PiRatE watER fallS • The largest pirate ship is 12 metres long and has three masts. The tallest mast is 7 metres high • The four water barrels which empty from the mast contain 50 or 100 litres of water • The water barrel on the pirate bridge is the largest. It contains 1000 litres of water and is 8 metres above the ground • The complex features seven ordinary slides and one horizontal water slide • The length of the horizontal water slide is 8 metres • There are 13 interactive water cannons ready and waiting for water battles. The complex offers more than 40 innovative water features • The large water fall pumps 250,000 litres of water per hour pirAtE miNi WAtEr FALLs In this little oasis, the smallest children can play in a safe environment.
