GRAINCORP VIC2 REPRESENTATIVE STATE TEAM
The WorkSafe Victorian Country Football
League VIC2 team also played the Victorian
Amateur Football Association (VAFA) as a
curtain-raiser to the Brian Molony Cup match.
The VIC2 team was never headed in the match
and put on a powerful display of team
oriented, attacking football, accounting
comfortably for their VAFA opponents, who
fought the game out to the very end.
Coach John Cossar and Selectors Bruce
Petering, Gil Ould, Andrew Sutton and Luke
Beattie selected a formidable team drawn
from WorkSafe VCFL Country Championship
teams ranked 11-20 and other Senior leagues.
John Hallam fulfi lled the Team Manager
responsibilities, Ash Lynch fulfi lled the role of
physiotherapist for the team, while Ron
McKeon and Trevor Blanchford formed the
training staff. The runner was Brett Anthony.
WorkSafe VCFL Umpires appointed to the
match were: Field: Andrew Moore (Goulburn
Valley FUA), Jamie Lake (Warrnambool &
District FUA) Boundary: Hayden Smith
(Goulburn Valley FUA) Lachlan Bayliss (North
East UB) Goal: Mick Atkinson (Warrnambool &
District FUA)
The Collegians AFC (VAFA) is thanked for the
generous use of their facilities across the lead
- up training sessions for the VIC and U19
squads.
In 2012 the WorkSafe VCFL GrainCorp VIC2
Representative team will compete in the
Landmark Australian Country Football Council
Championships in Wagga Wagga in July.
