Disinfection of Suction Systems
FEATURES IN BRIEF
Concentrate for the simultaneous disinfection and cleaning, deodorization and care of
dental suction systems, amalgam separators and spittoon bowls.
Broad effective spectrum: bactericidal, tuberculocidal, fungicidal, virucidal with limited effectiveness
(enveloped viruses, e.g. Vaccinia viruses inclusive of HBV, HCV, HIV, non-enveloped viruses, e.g. Adeno or Noro viruses).
Tested in accordance with the current DGHM guidelines and European standards.
List of VAH/DGHM. Tested in accordance with EN 13727, EN 13624, EN 14348, EN 14561, EN 14562, EN 14563,
EN 14476.
The solution for contaminated suction systems - guarantees safe infection control.
Application concentration 2% only.
Excellent cleaning activity - removes stubborn deposits, even in difficultly accessible places.
Aldehyde-free – activity based on quaternary ammonium compounds.
CHARACTERISTICS
Orotol plus from Dürr System-Hygiene is a highly effective concentrate for the simultaneous disinfection, deodorization, cleaning and
care of all dental suction systems, amalgam separators as well as spittoon bowls. Selected disinfecting and cleansing agents enable
highly effective care without foam, care that is easy on the system itself and the environment. When used daily, Orotol plus ensures
trouble-free operation of the suction systems, even with extremely high dirt and germ loads (e.g. saliva, amalgam and dentine dust,
blood, etc.), both with regard to function and hygiene.
CHEMICAL COMPOSITION
Orotol plus is based on a combination of quaternary ammonium compounds, alkaline cleansing agents, complexing agents, special
antifoaming agents and adjuvants in aqueous solution. 100 g Orotol plus contain: 8.8 g dimethyl-dioctyl-ammoniumchloride 50%, 1.2 g
benzyl-dimethyl-dodecyl-ammoniumchloride 50%.
MICROBIOLOGICAL EFFECTIVENESS
Orotol plus is bactericidal, tuberculocidal, fungicidal 1) , virucidal with limited effectiveness 2) (enveloped viruses, e.g. Vaccinia viruses
inclusive of HBV, HCV, HIV, non-enveloped viruses, e.g. Adeno viruses, Noro viruses 3) ).
List of VAH/DGHM. Tested in accordance with EN 13727, EN 13624, EN 14348, EN 14561, EN 14562, EN 14563, EN 14476.
1) Test with Candida albicans.
2) In accordance with RKI recommendation (Bundesgesundheitsbl. 47, 62 – 66, 2004).
3) Test with FCV surrogate virus.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Orotol plus is used as a 2% solution. Fill 20 ml Orotol plus up to 1 litre with cold water and draw through suction system, using the
OroCup. Fill at least 250 ml of the solution into the spittoon bowl. Observe the necessary exposure time. Thoroughly rinse disinfected
suction system with water. We recommend disinfecting and cleaning suction systems once or twice a day, according to the work load.
Once daily disinfecting and cleaning should be done at night after surgery ends for the day - using Orotol plus for disinfection and
cleaning.

TOXICOLOGY
Determination of the acute oral toxicity (LD50) for Orotol plus concentrate in rats gave the result of > 2000 mg/kg of body weight.
Determination of the acute dermal toxicity (LD50) for Orotol plus concentrate in rats gave the result of > 2000 mg/kg of body weight.
Therefore, Orotol plus is classified as "non-toxic". There is no eye or skin irritation upon contact of the 2% solution with the eyes or the
skin. Orotol plus has no sensitizing properties.

ENVIRONMENTAL BEHAVIOUR
Orotol plus is easily biodegradable according to OECD guideline 301 D. The packing is made of polyethylene and can therefore be
exploited both materially and thermally. For recycling, rinse bottle with water.

CAUTION
After surgical procedures, aspirate cold water intermittently.
WARNING
Orotol plus is classified as irritant according to the Directives relating to the classification, packaging and labelling of dangerous
substances and preparations. Danger of serious damage to eyes. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water
and seek medical advice. We recommend wearing protective gloves.
