GENERALS BASKETBALLWARNER CENTER<strong>Washington</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Lee</strong> plays its home basketball games in the 2,500-seat J.W.Warner Center, a five-story athletic complex completed in 1972. The first game in thenew facility was played before a packed house against the University of Virginia onDecember 1, 1971 <strong>and</strong> the building was officially dedicated as the Warner Center onOctober 21, 1977. The gymnasium has served as the host site for two NCAA regionalbasketball tournaments <strong>and</strong> one NCAA regional wrestling tournament.The athletic complex, named for former W&L trustee Jonathan Westervelt Warner(W&L '40), also features a six-lane swimming pool; team rooms for W&L sports teams;the Doremus Gymnasium; a fully-equipped weight room <strong>and</strong> fitness center that wascompleted in 2002; an excellent athletic training facility; h<strong>and</strong>ball, racquetball <strong>and</strong>squash courts; a baseball batting cage; an equipment room <strong>and</strong> offices for coaches<strong>and</strong> administrators.MEDIA INFORMATION<strong>Washington</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Lee</strong> University welcomes your coverage of Generals' Basketballduring the <strong>2006</strong>-20<strong>07</strong> season.
