J10 tips that can be easily applied when teachinga child with <strong>Turner</strong> syndrome¥ Try to ensure that the child is seated so that she is facing the teacherfor the majority of the time.¥ Make eye contact with the girl whenever possible. (This may not beeasy for her)¥ Use handouts, rather than the blackboard, whenever possible.¥ Try to keep background noise to a minimum.¥ When giving an instruction start with the girlÕs name and finish withher name.¥ Give full and detailed instructions and repeat if possible.¥ Encourage the use of visual aids and colour to aid memory.¥ Set realistic targets and award with lots of praise.¥ If not reaching academic targets then praise helpfulness etc.¥ Listen to her concerns and treat her fairly and this will help the girlwith TS reach her full potential and become a valued member of theclass.13
