Directors’ remuneration <strong>report</strong>Remuneration policyThe following remuneration policy refers to the employment of its Directors. Four* Directors employed during the year are SeniorCivil Servants (SCS) and subject to SCS terms and conditions, including the remuneration policy. Their bonus arrangements fallunder SCS rules rather than the <strong>Dstl</strong> performance-award system.The remaining Executive Directors are <strong>Dstl</strong> employees and subject to the same performance-related remuneration policy asall other <strong>Dstl</strong> staff. The Non-Executive Directors are not <strong>Dstl</strong> employees (with the exception of one director who is employed byMOD) and they are paid a fee for their services.Performance conditionsDirectors who are subject to SCS terms and conditions are also subject to the SCS performance conditions. The remainingExecutive Directors are subject to the <strong>Dstl</strong> performance management rules.Service contractsThe Constitutional Reform and Governance Act 20<strong>10</strong> requires Civil Service appointments to be made on merit and on the basisof fair and open competition. The recruitment principles published by the Civil Service Commission specify the circumstanceswhen appointments may be made otherwise.Unless otherwise stated, the officials named in this <strong>report</strong> hold appointments that are open-ended.
