Locate the lower bracket sothe strap engages the sight glassabout 1 above the drain wingnut.Remove the strainer from theupper bracket, fasten the lower bracket tothe bulkhead, and hang the strainer onceagain in the upper bracket. The sight glassshould now rest squarely against the lowerbracket. Run the strap around the sightglass and lower bracket and pull it tight.The strap is releasable and reusable.For sizes 1500, 2000, 2500 and 3000,fasten the strainer head loosely to abulkhead or stringer. Slide the lowerbracket (open side facing up) between thebulkhead and the sight glass until it fitssnugly without play. Mark the locationof the lower bracket; it should be 1 - 2above the drain wingnut. Remove thestrainer, and securely fasten the lowerbracket. Fasten the strainer loosely onceagain by its upper bracket and verify thatthe sight glass rest squarely against thelower bracket. Run the strap around thesight glass and lower bracket and pull ittight. Tighten the upper mount bolts.The strap is releasable and reusable.Bonding: GROCO strainers are providedwith two (2) bonding fasteners on the headcasting, located between the mount bracketand the body. Use either of these fastenersto connect the strainer to the vesselbonding system using 14-gauge (or larger)stranded copper wire and a ring terminal.The bonding connection may also be madeat any of the bolts that secure the sightglass to the head casting.Warning: Motorized equipment is to havea separate connection to the vessel ACgrounding bus in accordance with ABYC,E-11, Figure-18. DO NOT make thestrainer bonding connection in serieswith motorized equipment. It is permissibleto make the bonding connection inseries with non-motorized equipment suchas seacocks or thru-hull fittings.Non-metallic Filter Baskets: GROCOoffers ARG-P series strainers with nonmetallicfilter. The corrosion-proof nonmetallicbaskets are an advantage incontinuous running or high usageinstallations such as air conditioning,generators, or refrigerationsystems where the continuousflow of sea water shortens filter basket life.ARG-P SERIESwith Non-MetallicFilter BasketNon-metallic baskets are interchangeablewith metallic baskets.Monel filter baskets are availableon special order. Refer to thereplacement parts section for moreinformation.Maintenance: Inspect and clean thefilter basket frequently. A seasonalapplication of water-proof greasethat is Silicon or Teflon based(do not use Petroleum basedgrease) to the cap threads ando-ring will assure easy cap looseningfor inspections and cleaning.Use only mild soapy water to clean thesight glass.Hand-tight is sufficient for a safe andleak-proof seal following cap removal andreplacement, but if you wish to snugthe cap use GROCO SW-2531 SpannerWrench.Multiple Consumers from a singlestrainer: Connecting multiple consumersof filtered water to a single strainer is notrecommended, but we realize that someinstallers will do this to reduce cost andsave space. To prevent dangerous flowrestrictions to one or more of the connectedconsumers use a GROCO RWM seriesRaw Water Manifold.Self-Cleaning Strainers: If the frequencyof filter basket cleanings becomes difficultbecause of debris-laden water or waterfilled with sea grass or jelly fish, consider aGROCO Hydromatic self-cleaning strainer.SVC NOTES: Plastic Strainer Cap fits allOlder Models.A design improvement necessitateschanges to the cap (Item-13) and CapO-Ring (Items 4 and 5).Improvement changesbegin w/SN 010910.PART #9DRAIN PLUGBEFORE 080101Kit Item Name Qty ARG-500 ARG-755 ARG-750 Qty ARG-1000 ARG-1210 ARG-1250 ARG-1500 ARG-2015 ARG-2000 ARG-2515 ARG-2520 ARG-2500 ARG-3015 ARG-3020 ARG- 3025 ARG-30001 Basket, SS 1 SS-69-B SS-69-B SS-69-C 1 SS-76-B SS-76-B SS-76-C SS-85-G SS-85-G SS-85-H SS-85-Q SS-85-R SS-85-J SS-85-Q SS-85-R SS-85-J SS-85-KBasket, Plastic PS-69-B PS-69-B PS-69-C PS-76-B PS-76-B PS-76-C PS-85-G PS-85-G PS-85-H PS-85-Q PS-85-R PS-85-J PS-85-Q PS-85-R PS-85-J PS-85-KBasket, Monel S-69-B S-69-B S-69-C S-76-B S-76-B S-76-C S-85-G S-85-G S-85-H S-85-Q S-85-R S-85-J S-85-Q S-85-R S-85-J S-85-K2 S ight Glass w/Drain (AFTER 080101)Plug 1ARG-503 ARG-503 ARG-753 1 ARG-1003 ARG-1003 ARG-1253 ARG-1503 ARG-1503 ARG-2003 ARG-1503 ARG-2003 ARG-2503 ARG-1503 ARG-2003 ARG-2503 ARG-3003* 3 O-Ring 1 2-153 2-153 2-153 1 2-157 2-157 2-157 2-256 2-256 2-256 2-256 2-256 2-256 2-256 2-256 2-256 2-256* 4 O-Ring 1 2-228 2-228 2-228 1 2-232 2-232 2-232 2-238 2-238 2-238 2-238 2-238 2-238 2-238 2-238 2-238 2-238* 5 O-Ring 1 2-135 2-135 2-135 1 2-229 2-229 2-229 2-234 2-234 2-234 2-234 2-234 2-234 2-234 2-234 2-234 2-234Info Sheet ARG Series, 1 of 2110221* 6 6 Wa sher 4 PFW -2 Set PFW -2 Set PFW -2 Set P FW -2 Set PFW -2 Se t P FW -2 Set PFW -2 Set PFW -2 Set PFW -2 Set PFW -2 Set PFW -2 Se t P FW -2 Set PFW -2 Set PFW -2 Se t P FW -2 Se t P FW -2 Se t7 Lockwasher 4 14SS 14SS 14SS 6 14SS 14SS 14SS 14SS 14SS 14SS 14SS 14SS 14SS 14SS 14SS 14SS 14SS8 Screw 4 1420X34HS 1420X34HS 1420X34HS 6 1420X58HS 1420X58HS 1420X58HS 1420X34HS 1420X34HS 1420X34HS 1420X34HS 1420X34HS 1420X34HS 1420X34HS 14 20X34HS 1420X34HS 1420X34H S9 Drain Plug with O-Ring 1ARG-506 ARG-506 ARG-506 1 ARG-506 ARG-506 ARG-506 ARG-506 ARG-506 ARG-506 ARG-506 ARG-506 ARG-506 ARG-506 ARG-506 ARG-506 ARG-506ARG-756 ARG-756 ARG-756 1 ARG-756 ARG-756 ARG-756 ARG-756 ARG-756 ARG-756 ARG-756 ARG-756 ARG-756 ARG-756 ARG-756 ARG-756 ARG-756(BEFORE 080101)9 Drain Plug with O-Ring 1(AFTER 080101)* O-Ring only for ARG-506 1 2-011 2-011 2-011 1 2-011 2-011 2-011 2-011 2-011 2-011 2-011 2-011 2-011 2-011 2-011 2-011 2-011* O-Ring only for ARG-756 1 2-111 2-111 2-111 1 2-111 2-111 2-111 2-111 2-111 2-111 2-111 2-111 2-111 2-111 2-111 2-111 2-11110 Bracket, Upper 1 ARG-505 ARG-505 ARG-505 1 ARG-1005 ARG-1005 ARG-1005 -
