It is EVERYWHERE. Everywhere you look.
�e green grass grows
irrepressibly
even as it is stepped on, laid on, and walked all over
it still grows
because it has a life and a green and will of it’s own and even though you can tell it
ten thousand times
that it will never touch the sky, it will
Never. Stop. Reaching.
Out arms as lovely and so� as the kiss
of an adoring spring breeze that wakes
the hazy grey world from it’s enchanted reveries.
I believe in magic.
Like the pouring love of a teakettle-mother who cares
for every droplet child
like the one she once had in a cradle that rocked
to the tune of the moon and of
put-on-hold dreams
that are now something larger beaming
down from the stars and the scars of an immaculate past
life where you once jumped o�
on a grenade to save comrades in a stark, red, dessert
where someone pulled you up out of the quicksand �re
and into your very own reality
when they really could have let you drown.
