epi<strong>the</strong>lium, peribr<strong>on</strong>chiolar and peribr<strong>on</strong>chial <strong>in</strong>filtrati<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong>lymphocytes, exudati<strong>on</strong> to <strong>the</strong> lumen <strong>of</strong> live and dead cells and o<strong>the</strong>rdebris and s<strong>in</strong>gle cell necrosis <strong>of</strong> columnar cells. Numerousneutrophils were seen with<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> alveoli and with<strong>in</strong> br<strong>on</strong>chioles andbr<strong>on</strong>chi. Syncytial cell formati<strong>on</strong>s were seen <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> endo<strong>the</strong>lial cells<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> blood vessels <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> lung and with<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> alveolar spaces.
