Tucked behind McDonald’s, BadApples Bistro arrived on September 1st expanding the culinary prowess of itspeople. Chef/Owner Christopher Kisiel finds himself back in his Alma Mater ofSpencerport, N.Y., bringing with him a vast knowledge of food and wine. ThisCulinary Arts graduate has created a 50 seat venue providing a quaint andcasual setting for everyday dining with an appetizing menu for all ages. Unlikeany other restaurant in town, this refined American eatery is offering tastefultwists on familiar classics. A well designed beer and wine list from around theglobe adds to the exciting and intense bold flavors of the cuisine. The ambianceof Bad Apples Bistro is a contrast of modern and rustic. The green apple accentwalls add a pop to the wood grains, frosted glass and rubbed bronze. As soonas you walk through the doors <strong>your</strong> mouth begins to water with the sight andscent of the fresh Granny Smith apples that are displayed throughout the diningroom. A 7ft. mahogany bar faces the patrons and displays house wines as wellas the monthly features. A large blackboard with hand written daily specialsis reminiscent of an old world bistro or brasserie. Bad Apples Bistro also offersample parking to accommodate its patrons. Its charm only begins with t<strong>heat</strong>mosphere. The quality of all the house made ingredients is evident throughthe depth and sophistication of their flavors. From fresh baked breads, pastas,and sauces to Bad Apple’s signature ice creams, the integrity of their product isclearly the vehicle for this establishment.Lunch offers an array of sandwiches and wraps such as the Pulled pork Cuban($12) with prosciutto, pickles, melted Swiss and papaya mustard, as well assalads like the Beet and Apple ($8) with wilted spinach, crumbled goat cheeseand warm bacon vinaigrette. The dinner menu features 100% Certified Angus NYStrip Steak ($24) and fresh caught Seafood entrees such as Chilean Sea bass($24), and Nova Scotian Salmon ($21) which propels this modest bistro into ahigher caliber of dining. Dishes such as The Bistro Bolognese ($19), made withhand cut fresh pappardelle pasta, braised pork shoulder and sliced beeftenderloin in a rich marinara, as well as The Smoked Mac ‘n Cheese ($16), offermore approachable selections. The green apple theme is apparent in more thanjust the dining room motif. Offerings of sweet and savory applications of theapple are spread throughout the lunch, dinner and dessert menus such as thegreen apple slaw featured on the Bistro Surf ‘n Turf ($24) and the Apples Crispwith house made Rosemary ice cream ($7).Bad Apples Bistro offers lunch and dinner Monday thru Thursday from 11am – 10pm, Friday from 11 am - 11 pm and dinner on Saturdays from 4 pm – 11 pm. Allmenu items are also available to go with no limitations. Wine and beer dinnerswill allow for a monthly treat as customers will have an opportunity to makereservations for a chef created five course menu offering of select food andbeverage pairings.
