General Information
CHILDREN
The participation to the ERA-EDTA Congress is not open to
non healthcare professionals, particularly children.
Children under 12 years of age are not admitted within
the Congress limits, children who are at least 12 years old
can be admitted but only to the Opening Ceremony and
only if accompanied by regularly registered adults. Their
number cannot exceed one child per registered adult. The
accompanying adult will be responsible for the child’s
safety and behaviour at all times.
Access for non healthcare professionals, in particular children,
to the exhibition/poster/session halls will be prohibited
at all times.
CLIMATE
Paris, at the end of May, is quite sunny and can therefore
be warm with temperatures going from 13°C to 25°C.
Nevertheless, rain and wind are also possible.
CME COURSES
In order to participate in the CME Courses held on May 24,
2012, all regularly registered congress members must go to
the session halls and have their badge scanned by the hostesses
at the entrance (at participant’s own responsibility).
Please note that the seat capacity of the conference rooms
is limited, therefore participation in these courses will be
on a “first come first served” basis.
The courses are reserved to regularly registered congress
members and are included in the registration fee.
CONGRESS MEMBERSHIP
Regularly registered participants are entitled to attend all
Scientific and Poster Sessions, Opening Ceremony with
Welcome Reception and Industrial Exhibition. Onsite they
will also receive a congress kit (including Final Programme
and Abstract CD-ROM) as well as vouchers for coffee/tea.
The vouchers will be sent, together with the badge, to all
pre-registered congress members.
Accompanying guest registration is not available, however,
all participants can take part, with their accompanying
guests, in the Opening Ceremony and Welcome Reception
on May 24, 2012.
A confirmation letter and congress materials (badge and
coffee tickets) will be sent by post to regularly pre-registered
congress members shortly after the set deadlines.
We strongly suggest that all the congress members, who
have not received their materials in due time, contact the
Registration Dept (e-mail: registrations@era-edta.org or fax:
+39-0521-959242) urgently.
Congress bags, which include the Final Programme and

the Abstract CD-ROM, can be picked up at the bag desk
located in the Registration Area starting May 24, 2012 at
7.00 hrs.
In order to pick up their congress bag each participant will
have to show their badge for scanning.
Please note that admission to the Registration Area will be
strictly forbidden to all until May 24, 2012 at 7.00 hrs.
The registration fee does not include any other benefit besides
the ones mentioned above. For any kind of information
regarding the online pre-registration system, please
check the Congress Membership Rules at page 20-23.
CURRENCY
EUR (€) is the official currency in France. Money can be
changed at the main train stations, international airports,
major banks, exchange bureau, most large hotels and the
post office.
All major credit cards are accepted in most hotels, restaurants
and shops.
ELECTRICITY
The electricity in France runs on 220 volts; the frequency
is 50 Hz and the plugs have two male contact pins. Plan to
bring a transformer for your electrical or electronic equipment
using different voltage (i.e. USA, Canada).
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS / VISAS
Passport and visa requirements may differ according to the
country of origin, please contact the French Embassy or
Consulate in your country for more details.
An official invitation letter can be downloaded and printed
on the Congress website www.eraedta2012.org or can
be requested by writing to the President of the Congress
Prof. Pierre Ronco (e-mail: visa@era-edta.org) at least three
months in advance. This letter however does NOT involve
any commitments by the Congress Organizers to cover
fees, accommodation, travel expenses or other costs connected
to the participation in the Congress.
ERA-EDTA will not be held responsible for visa that are not
granted.
HOW TO GET THE CERTIFICATE OF ATTENDANCE
All regularly registered delegates can collect their certificate
of attendance at the appropriate desk (“Certificate
of Attendance”) located in the Registration Area starting
May 25, 2012 after 15.00 hours. To obtain the certificate
of attendance, it is mandatory to go to this desk and show
the badge. A personalized certificate will be printed and
will state exactly, and only, the days of the participation
