Self ignition: Product is not self-igniting.Lower explosion risk limit: 1,8% by volume in air. Solubility in water/grease: Slightly insoluble10. ST<strong>AB</strong>ILITY AND REACTIVITYPossibility of hazardousreactions:Conditions to be avoided:Hazardous decompositionproducts:No dangerous reactions known. No decomposition if used according to specifications. No dangerous decomposition products known.11. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATIONInformation on toxicological effectsRisks at inhalation:Risks at contact:Propylene is a gas slightly narcotic and may in highly concentrated form irritate mucousmembranes and cause suffocation. The suffocation effect is proportional to the decrease ofthe partial pressure of the oxygen in the inhalation air obtained at a mixture of propylene andair. When the oxygen content has decreased to three fourths or less of the normal contentasphyxia occurs. The body interprets this as a lack of oxygen and reacts (at concentrations of50 vol.-% propylene in air) with pronounced symptoms of suffocation in the form of difficulty tobreath and hyperventilation simultaneously with deteriorated reaction ability and impairedmuscle co-ordination. More serious cases (at concentrations of 75 vol.-% propylene in air)may end in unconsciousness and death.Propylene in liquefied or gaseous form may cause serious frostbites on skin or eyes. Ifpropylene in liquefied form gets into contact with objects of a higher temperature than theliquid itself it results in fierce boiling and splashing.12. ECOLOGICAL INFORMATIONEcological informationGeneral note:Generally not hazardous for water.13. DISPOSICAL CONSIDERATIONSWaste treatment methodsRecommendation:EWC code:Must not be disposed together with household garbage. Do not allow product to reach sewagesystem. Product to be deposited at suitable recirculation place, according to official regulations.16 05 00 – Gases in pressure containers and discarded chemicals.16 05 05 – Gases in pressure containers (including halons) containing dangerous substances.Page 3 of 4 Print date: 16/11/2012
