Formed in 1977by Benny Jones together with members of the Tornado Brass Band theyrevolutionized the New Orleans brass band style by incorporating funk andbebop into the traditional New Orleans style, and has been a majorinfluence on the majority of New Orleans brass bands since. Thirty-sixyears later, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band is a world famous music machine,whose name is synonymous with genre-bending romps and high-octaneperformances. They have revitalized the brass band in New Orleans andaround the world and have played with the likes of David Bowie, ElvisCostello, Dr. John and the Black Crowes.
