2.7 DRESS code POLICYPurposeThe purpose of this policy is to describe the standard of dress expected by <strong>Jacksons</strong> <strong>Security</strong>Pty Ltd (“<strong>Jacksons</strong> <strong>Security</strong>”) in the workplace. <strong>Jacksons</strong> <strong>Security</strong> requires that all staff weara standard of dress appropriate to the circumstances and environment in which work isperformed. Importantly, dress should be neither offensive nor hazardous.Commencement of the <strong>Policy</strong>This <strong>Policy</strong> will commence from 4/07/2011. It replaces all other <strong>Jacksons</strong> <strong>Security</strong> dresspolicies (whether written or not).Application of the <strong>Policy</strong>This <strong>Policy</strong> applies to employees, agents and contractors (including temporary contractors) of<strong>Jacksons</strong> <strong>Security</strong>, collectively referred to in this <strong>Policy</strong> as ‘workplace participants’. This<strong>Policy</strong> does not form part of any employee’s contract of employment. Nor does it form partof any other workplace participant’s contract for service.Health and Safety<strong>Jacksons</strong> <strong>Security</strong> is required to remove any reasonably foreseeable risk to workplace healthand safety. If <strong>Jacksons</strong> <strong>Security</strong> considers that particular clothing or jewellery constitutes aforeseeable hazard having the potential to harm health or safety, <strong>Jacksons</strong> <strong>Security</strong> may takewhatever action is considers necessary to address the situation. Action may include directingthe workplace participant to remove the particular clothing or jewellery while in theworkplace. If it is not practicable to remove the particular item, <strong>Jacksons</strong> <strong>Security</strong> may directthe workplace participant to leave the workplace. A workplace participant is expected tocomply with any such direction.Acceptable attireAcceptable attire at <strong>Jacksons</strong> <strong>Security</strong> is as follows:Men <strong>Jacksons</strong> <strong>Security</strong> issued uniform clothing onlyWomen <strong>Jacksons</strong> <strong>Security</strong> issued uniform clothing onlyCostume and garments worn to comply with religious or cultural requirements are acceptableas long as they do not pose a foreseeable hazard having the potential to harm health orsafety. If a workplace participant is uncertain, the workplace participant should check withhis/her manager or supervisor.Unacceptable attireThe following is a guide to attire that is unacceptable in the workplace. It is not an exhaustivelist. A workplace participant that presents for work wearing unacceptable attire may bedirected to go home and change before resuming work.


Clothing not issued directly by <strong>Jacksons</strong> <strong>Security</strong> nor authorised by <strong>Jacksons</strong> <strong>Security</strong>Head Office staffJewelleryAny item of jewellery that constitutes a foreseeable hazard having the potential to harm healthor safety must not be worn in the workplace. In particular, rings or chains may becomeentangled in machinery and therefore pose a risk to health and safety.HairHair should be worn in a neat and tidy fashion. If directed to do so by <strong>Jacksons</strong> <strong>Security</strong>, aworkplace participant must tie back long hair in a hair net or similar device.Body and facial piercingBody and facial piercing is unacceptable due to the potential for harm to health or safety.Pierced ear lobes may be acceptable if there is no potential for harm to health or safety.TattoosTattoos of an offensive nature must be covered.UniformAny staff member supplied with a uniform is required to wear it whilst on duty and to takeresponsibility for maintenance of the uniform.Casual daysWhen a ‘casual’ day is held, it is expected that employees will dress in ‘smart casual’clothing.If it is found that workplace participants are abusing the privilege of ‘casual’ days thenmanagement may, at their discretion, decide to withhold the privilege.Breach of this policyAny deliberate breaches of this policy may result in disciplinary action being taken against theemployee.Variations<strong>Jacksons</strong> <strong>Security</strong> reserves the right to vary, replace or terminate this policy from time totime.
