HURRICANES around campusHomecoming 2007 Hall of Fame<strong>Marian</strong> alums cameto help current ’Canescelebrate homecoming.On Friday morningthe 2007 DistinguishedAlumni Recipient, BobWelter ’68, addressed thestudent body after the allschool mass. Bob spokeof his experiences on his10 mission trips to Haiti.He said, “It’s an honorto be the hands andfeet of our Lord and doHis work.” A receptionand a tour of the schoolfollowed the Mass. TheSuperintendent Tom Landers congratulatesalumni float was full ofBob Welter ’70, the 2007 DistinguishedAlumni Recipient.honorees in the paradeon Friday afternoon.Alumni found their way to the alumni tent and enjoyedthe new bleachers at George Harding Field. The tent waspacked all night, especially when the heavens opened up andpoured down on the game watchers.Hall of Fame Inductees included Mike Eisele ’81 who holdsthe school record in the Class A IHSA State ChampionshipMeet for the Boys CrossCountry Team. He was votedMVP in both Cross Countryand Track.Correction: The DevelopmentOffice regrets that the pictureon the cover of the last issuefor Mike Eisele was incorrect.Here is the correct picture ofMike.Dennis Jackson ’66, played football, basketball and baseballat <strong>Marian</strong>. In football he led his team in receiving andtouchdowns. Dennis is a Top 5 record holder for receivingat the University of Cincinnati.Cynthi (Parker) Lysne ’95, was a State Champion ingymnastics and also participated in Track & Field. In Track& Field she was a State Qualifier in 1992 and 1994.Dirk Stanger ’93, holds 4 records in football as starting varsityquarterback. He was named Northwest Suburban ConferencePlayer of the Year and Northwest Herald Football Player ofthe Year in 1992, and was a member of the 1994 University ofWisconsin Rose Bowl Champion Team.Coach David Proffitt was Head Football coach at <strong>Marian</strong>for 10 years with 3 conference championships and 7 playoffappearances. In 1995 he led the Hurricanes to the StateSemi-Final game.Coach Gregg Wikierak is in his 29th year of coachingbaseball and his 19th at <strong>Marian</strong>. His teams have won twoNorthwest Suburban Championships, one Suburban <strong>Catholic</strong>Championship and seven Regional Championships. He wasNorthwest Herald Baseball Coach of the Year 4 times.Coach Terry Stanger has coached <strong>Marian</strong> football teamsthat reached the playoffs 13 out of 15 seasons. He wasassistant coach on the 1983, 1986, 1987 and 1989 StateChampionship Teams, as well as the 1985 and 2006 StateRunner-Up Teams.John Guanci, Jr. has been a friend of <strong>Marian</strong> for years,especially during the 1980’s and was very active in theBooster Club in the 70’s and 80’s.Mike Eisele ’81
