• Outline planning permission: this means the Council has given, inprinciple, permission for a certain type of development to go ahead.Before a development can be built, full planning permission (above)must be obtained.• <strong>St</strong>rategic Land Allocation: the <strong>Fife</strong> <strong>St</strong>ructure <strong>Plan</strong> identifies a numberof <strong>St</strong>rategic Land Allocations throughout <strong>East</strong> <strong>Fife</strong> to be developedbetween 2006 and 2026. These areas will include a minimum of 300houses and may include a mix of land uses depending on the location.The text for each <strong>St</strong>rategic Land Allocation gives details of theacceptable land uses for the site.• <strong>Local</strong> <strong>Plan</strong> allocation: this site has been identified as a proposal inthe <strong>Local</strong> <strong>Plan</strong>.• Development Opportunity: this site has the potential for developmentas described.Definitions for many other terms used in the Settlement <strong>Plan</strong>s can be found inthe Glossary.In addition to the Settlement <strong>Plan</strong>s, an Action Programme is published alongwith the <strong>Local</strong> <strong>Plan</strong>. This identifies all the proposals within the Settlement<strong>Plan</strong>s and gives information on:• who is responsible for implementing them; and• their anticipated timescales.The Action Programme will be updated every 2 years.
