At the time <strong>of</strong> this award he was Supernumerary-Lieutenant on H.M.S. Hyperion,on Coast Blockade (the Coast Blockade was disbanded in 1831 and its work taken over by the Coast Guard). In1833 he married Sarah Margaretta Symonds (1802-1889), and they had two daughters, Harriet Frances (1836-1868) and Maria (1843-1914). His papers are in the National Library <strong>of</strong> Wales (Penralley Papers).The award must be one <strong>of</strong> the last made before Charles X was overthrown in the French Revolution <strong>of</strong> 1830,known as the July Revolution.
