The terminal for the alarm readouts is at thePolice Dispatch Office in the McKnight –Rogers Building.ON GOINGArchitectural Design<strong>Cheyney</strong> <strong>University</strong> Police has significant input into the design <strong>of</strong> all new <strong>and</strong> renovated <strong>campus</strong> facilitieswith regard to physical <strong>and</strong> electronic <strong>security</strong> systems.ACCESS TO CAMPUS FACILITIES<strong>Cheyney</strong> <strong>University</strong> Police Department has the primary responsibility for coordinating the locking <strong>and</strong>unlocking <strong>of</strong> most <strong>campus</strong> buildings. <strong>Cheyney</strong> <strong>University</strong> Police also works closely with the FacilitiesManagement Department to maintain building <strong>security</strong> <strong>and</strong> key control. Administrative <strong>and</strong> academicbuildings are locked during non- business hours. Unauthorized persons are not permitted in the buildingsduring these hours. In certain buildings on <strong>campus</strong>, individuals can request special access afterhours. To gainadmittance to a building that is closed, proper identification must be presented to <strong>Cheyney</strong> <strong>University</strong> PoliceOfficers.All four residential building front doors are locked 24 hours daily <strong>and</strong> are accessed via the student's ID card.All secondary exits are alarmed 24 hours a day. Most secondary exits are alarmed <strong>and</strong> have internal crashbar mechanisms <strong>and</strong> no outside door h<strong>and</strong>les. Resident students <strong>and</strong> their guests are required to use themain entrance when entering or exiting a building. Access to residence halls is restricted to residents <strong>and</strong>their approved guests, <strong>and</strong> other approved members <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong> community. Residents gain entry byswiping their cards in the card access readers at the main entrance. The front desk is staffed limited hours aday, seven days a week. All residence halls are equipped with an automatic <strong>fire</strong> alarm system that ismonitored by the <strong>Cheyney</strong> <strong>University</strong> Police Department. Notification <strong>of</strong> any <strong>safety</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>security</strong> measuresthat have changed will be updated annually <strong>and</strong> would be announced via use <strong>of</strong> <strong>University</strong> media. Eachstudent room is equipped with a lockable door. Lock changes are ordered when students <strong>report</strong> a lost key.15
