PROCEDURES FOR CLUB FORMATIONat ASHEVILLE HIGH SCHOOLThe following steps must be completed to <strong>form</strong> a recognized club at <strong>Asheville</strong> HighSchool. All “unrecognized” clubs will not have access to any rights or privileges oforganizations at <strong>Asheville</strong> High School (e.g. facility access, transportation access,etc.).THE STEPS:1. The club must have a faculty or staff sponsor/advisor. This person mustbe present at all club activities or functions. If the advisor is unable to beat a function, then the function will be canceled. Violation of this willresult in the disb<strong>and</strong>ment of the club.2. The club must submit a written proposal for the club. Include in theproposal:a. club’s goalsb. how the club will benefit/improve the student body/AHSc. a set of by-laws (rules) that govern the organizationd. membership st<strong>and</strong>ards including: GPA*, school attendance*,discipline record*, meeting/function attendance requirements(*records must be maintained by the faculty/staff advisore. dues/fees to be collected & what they will be used for (All AHSbookkeeper Chris Pohlman.)f. all club members <strong>and</strong> by-laws must adhere to all school <strong>and</strong>system-wide policies regarding membership, operation, <strong>and</strong>fundraising3. Answer the attached approval questionnaire to make sure your proposalis complete.4. Assemble your proposal packet in this order: cover sheet, procedures,approval questionnaire with answers <strong>and</strong> written proposal.5. Submit <strong>Proposal</strong> packet to the assistant principal in charge of studentactivities, for administrative approval.6. If approved, the proposal they will go to the AHS Student GovernmentExecutive Council via Ms. Katie Williams for approval7. The approval process takes approximately three weeks. The facultyadvisor will be in<strong>form</strong>ed by email when the club is either approved ordenied.8. If you have any questions, please ask an administrator.Revised 7/7/2011- 2 –
